Amsoil upgrade

I have read on TDR that changing to synthetic oil on new engines should be done after break in. Is there a mileage after which you shouldn't use fully synthetic oil?I have a 98. 5 24v with 57k.

It's never too late to change over to synthetic. I recommend the Amsoil HD 5W-30 Diesel Oil. Also recommend getting 2 cans of their Engine Flush to clean out the old oil & deposits, when you change over.

I heard the engine flush is a pain. And that the synthetic oil will help clean out any old deposits and sludge that is in there. So what I did was change the filter at 1K and 4K with make up oil. Then start my regular intervals from there.

How's the engine flush used - what do you do with it? Pour it in with the new oil or something else?



Getting ready to switch myself. I have my eye on a dual bypass next time around, but no $$$ right now. So it'll just be the 5w30 and another stratapore. .
