Hi Turbo Dudes

I have run out of things to fix and adjust on my truck and need a new project. I have an EZ box and was thinking of puting a remote on off switch on it. Can this be done? Can the the box be switched on and off while driving or must the engine be shut off to switch the box?

I don't think you can disconnect the EZ from the pump harness while it's running sounds like something bad would happen since the EZ is talking to the VP44. But I have heard of hooking a switch up to the fuel rate jumpers on the side of the EZ.

I have heard that if you dont have any jumpers in, its like having the box off?? so maybe just putting an open position on a remote jumper switch would do the trick. So the question is , can you change jumper settings with the engine running?

If you can change the jumpers while running, a two positon switch and a couple n/o micro relays and your good to go. Maybe EDGE can verify this?

I put on a switch to change the jumper settings on my EZ - a 3 pos rotary switch attached to the EZ with a computer bus header cable - and can change the settings on the fly. I believe that no jumper is like having the jumper on setting 3.

I have run my EZ with the CANBus plug disconnected (just the boost fooler plugged in) with no problems. I have bought a microrelay to put inline with the EZ CANBus wires to allow me to shut it off, but haven't installed it yet. I wouldn't think that turning it off or on with the engine running would cause any problems, but haven't tested it. The fact is that any relay is going to be subject to bouncing when you crank the engine unless you connect it to an always on 12V source (i. e. battery drain when the engine is off).

I wouldn't put the CANBus wires onto an in cab on/off switch because I'd be worried about interference created by the extended length wires.
