Ok as we all know these 98. 5 to 2002 dodge Cummins have a big problem with electronic noise interfering with the transmission. I have tried all different types of filters that did not work and rewires that also did not work. In the process of taking the time to fix this I figured out a way to make what we can refer to for the time as the “black box” that will actually change the way the transmission shifts and responds your input on the accelerator pedal.
What this black box does. The best part it filters noise if that’s a problem on your truck. Second say you are towing and want to push the pedal down without it down shifting it will do that also without a lock up switch and when you take your foot off the pedal if will unlock the converter. Ok so you are getting the idea but the best part is say you want it to hold the convert locked up just a little longer then the factory computer will then all you have to do is turn the dial to a position between factory and max filtering. The current black box I have made and tested has factory and 5 more levels of filtering.
I am able to make these with a lock up switch also. If you so desire that. I currently have that and an over drive switch installed in my box. I do not need to use the switches very often because the dial that I have made works great. It like an automatic lock up switch but with the ability to only hold lock up for the amount of time you chose.
These are very easy to install as its only 3 wires for the standard install 4 for one with a lock up switch and 5 if you add the overdrive control. To my knowledge if you have a factory transmission you will have no use for the overdrive switch.
