an ugly sight

well after trying numerous times to rid myself of that pesty cat, i got a sawzall and went ahead an amputated the legs and tossed it into the garage. it was not a pretty sight, took about two hours(10 minutes to get it off and two hours to get the test pipe into place). the problem was that gonzilla had put in on at the factory and the muffler end was crimped enough that the new pipe would not slide inside. anyway after a long fight it was successful. amazing how much better the truck seems to drive. actually quieter too. ahhh life is good... .

Dustoff, Is that "testpipe" straight? The reason I ask is my buddy has a few pipes lying around and I'm thinking 52" of straight pipe swaged at one end to fit over 3" and 4" at the other end to slip into muffler. Mines a '95.

statland... . yes it is a straight pipe with one end smaller for the downpipe and the other end fits into the muffler... about $50 bucks at dealer... should have done it long ago... . cya

I found a guy to remove the cat and install a new pipe for $30 what a deal !!!! Anyway I noticed the truck was a little louder and I could hear the turbo wind up. I love that sound. Also the truck just seems to run better. I could still see through the cat when removed but I am glad I got rid of it.
