What do i need to install fuel pressure gauge?

Smarty & Codes Question???

I was looking at getting some gauges for the truck Pyro, boost, fuel pressure, and I was gonna get some analog gauges then got to thinking about the BD X-monitor... .

Would that be a good route to go?

How reliable is the X-monitor?

Pro's and Con's of X-monitor over analog?

just want to make right decision... THANKS

Have had x-monitor for about 2 years. Like it cause it's small and digital. Has pre set maximums then alarm. Mine flashes, also holds maximums. Some people have reported some of display lights going out but I have not had that problem yet! Also ,some times if the sun hits the display it's hard to read. Really not been a problem for me, just cup it with my hand when I need to see it under those conditions. I would buy another.

You could be like me and have both!! I have more gages than an airplane. 7 EGT(one including the BD X), 3 temps, 1 fuel pressure, 2 boost pressure. If i had to do it again I would have bought a corsa probably. Then I could actually log my readings. Nobody looks at the gages going down the track!!!

:--) Well I just went to Scheids website and priced it. I think I will stay with my setup. I wish I had BBD's money. Wow that is expensive.

You could also look at the new TS monitor. It believe it can be used without other chips. It has a heads up display, and can record highs and lows for things like sledpulling or dragracing.

I think it looks better than the bd x-monitor, but I have no experiece with either. Analog here.

After my recent dealings with BD while trying to help a friend install an X-Monitor in his Flowerpoke, I would enthusiastically recommend anything else but the BD stuff.

I have never dealt with a company that was less competent in dealing with their own products. There was only one fellow that I talked to that took the time to call the guy that developed the XMonitor to get me the troubleshooting info that I needed. The rest of the support team didn't have a clue. I was told at least four times that I didn't have it programmed properly. I was also told three times that I didn't have it wired properly. And when I called back with the info from the test that I was told to run (that proved the box was bad), I was told that they had never heard of that test.

So the box was finally sent in. After two weeks I called (they had already tested the box and it was just sitting there - but I didn't get a call) and they said they couldn't duplicate the problem. And when I got it back I found out why - the stuff I got back wasn't the stuff I sent in (if anyone sent in an xmonitor for a Dodge and received a setup for a Ford with a painted pod, drop me a line). Oh, and the product actually left BD one week after they said that they would ship it back.

I'm currently waiting for the new replacement XMonitor that I was told that they would be shipping. That we'll have to repaint. Now 6 weeks after this all started.

It would be a cool product if it works when you get it. But if this one breaks again, we're throwing it away. It's not worth the hassle.

I purchased the x-monitor for my 06 Mega a few weeks ago and so far so good. Like ttbird stated in his post I have had to shade the display when the sun hits it but I can live with that and I really like the compact size of the display. It was a pretty easy install overall and my one call to BD with a question on the transtemp hookup was answered with no problem. I would buy one again!

Ditto!!!!!!!

Like it cause it's small and digital. Has pre set maximums then alarm. Mine flashes, also holds maximums. Oo. I would buy another. [/QUOTE] :-laf :-laf

I like mine because its compact and with the cool down timer it also adds an audible alarm, and i like being able to store max and minimum Numbers.

My X- Mon works great... so good for the last two years on my 04. 5 and now in my 06 mega... . I had a bad pyro probe (grounded out inside) but thats made by Isspro. BD sent me a new probe very quickly. I reccomend it very much. I have tint on my side windows so the sun is not reaaly a problem.

I have had mine in for over a year and I really like it...

It may not be as "flashy" as a nice set of analog gauges, but I just use it to keep track of trans and EGTs when I tow, so I do not need anything super fancy. It has worked well, and once I set the programming for my year truck (2004. 5) everything else has been flawless.

As others have mentioned, I appreciate that it holds the MAX values, so if I am in heavy traffic, I do not have to try to keep track of them, I can scroll through and see where they hit later on... The flashing display when you go past one of the user configurable maximums for what it tracks is also nice.

I would definitely consider it again.
