Really? Ever hear of Somalia? Do you figure they will just leave U. S. nationals alone while they feed the refugees? Do you figure that anything known to have come from the U. S. will be left alone by the Taliban supported army?



Like it or not, this time around, if we want to send in aid, it'll be with the military close at hand.

Yeah, well, here's to a little faith in our guys in DC that they won't repeat the utter absurdities of the past.



This business of sending the military around to play cop in third world countries or using them to try to make the locals "play nice" with each other is really stupid.



If we're going to do it, then we give them so much firepower they can blow everyone away.

I absolutely agree. That is part of making it safe... not holding the military in check. We should make it clear that we will protect the people rendering the aid and allow the military all it needs to do that and more.

The difference between Somalia and Afganastan is night and day. These are refugees at a known spot"the border". In Somalia they had warlords that took the food before the people could get it. In this case,an air drop to the refugees of food and water with USA all over it would do wonders to change peoples minds about what Bin Laden has taught them. Remember we have to destroy an idea.

In fact, I think there's a similar problem in Egypt, where they have had a state run press for about 10 years now. The press (government) is anti-US. So how many Egyptians are now anti-US (for the wrong reasons), and how will that factor into the future ?
