Did she get what she deserved, or should she have been let off because she was crazy? The punishment has not been handed down let, that will be tommorw at 10:00AM

Just wondering,

Andrew

They should drown her in a bathtub, needle is too easy for what she did. This is TX, she won't get life, you can bet on it.

Glenn

Does TX kill the guilty the wimpy way, or with a good ol' sparky like FL? I vote that they not only flame her, but her idiot husband as well! It's no mystery that she's been loony for years and this moron keeps impregnating her! He deserves extreme punishment as well...

Verdict

It was the right call by the jury based on Texas law- she clearly knew right from wrong despite the fact that she had a mental disease- I do not see why she would want to live frankly- I have no problem with capital punishment- this was a horribly violent crime- and how this husband could continue to have children with this woman and leave her at home with them is criminal- this family was in denial and these children never had a chance- some people cannot parent regardless of what organs they have and this is an example where health care professionals should take a greater role in stopping a crazy train- everyone knew this woman was a time bomb- something should have stopped it. God rest these children who couldn't choose their family.

I could see that she could be "Out of it" for the first child that she killed, but all five? I agree that the husband should have woke up sooner and also kept his pants zipped shut!! Kids can make a sane person crazy sometimes! I could not imagine trying to handle five. SO very sad! Chris

i AM NOT picking sides here....

So even though she was a "crazy-train" it was the right call?

I am not picking sides here, just that when it was read, my grandma and I had oppisite reactions. Now I am just trying to see her point of view.

A different point of view....

I would like those who voted no to post. They are out numbered at the moment, 16:2. Just wanting to hear both sides.

Tough legal standard

She could be "crazy" in the sense of having a mental disease or defect even rendering her arguably psychotic but the "right from wrong" standard is easy for the prosecution- in point of fact with a disinterested sperm donor of a husband who was oblivious to the level of dysfunction in the family it is clear that she was trying to "spare" her kids from what she saw as a hell on earth but she knew it was wrong because she called the police and reported it instead of doing a dance on the front lawn or sitting in the tub- she might have gotten off in a jurisdiction with a broader standard for "insanity". Killing five children by violent drowning is too much for any jury to handle.

I don't get it. Isn't a person who would kill her own kids undeniably insane? Why even ask the question. Does a sane person do these things? Of course she's insane. Now she's criminally insane. If a person is retarded, that in itself doesn't make a person bad. Why is it even considered as a defense? She is a bad person. Rocket scientist or sachel mouth... she's a murderer. How could anyone even think she could be a sane person? She's insane and needs to be removed from society for the safety of others. Bath tub, electric chair, life in a cell, I don't care as long as her hell is eternal.

Insane

Well if she was "insane" as described in the instructions to the jury she would have had an inability to form the criminal intent which is necessary for the murder conviction- the ability to know right from wrong means that the jury found that she was in fact "sane" under the Texas definition and can be punished as a criminal as opposed to being put in a hospital for the criminally insane if they found that she didn't know right from wrong. They can consider her mental state in determining whether to impose the death penalty but they clearly rejected the insanity defense. Given how quickly they found her guilty I would not be surprised if they imposed the death penalty- I think they want her erased from society.

I feel that the verdict should have included "premeditated". She knew that if she stopped taking her medicine that she would have "problems". I think that was her entire line of thinking, hoping that the insanity plea would get her off. To bad for the children, no they could not chose their family. Whether it is in the bath tub, or in a cell for life, she will get what she deserves, at some point in her life or there after.

Crazy Bit#&

The only way I could justify the state forking out $65,000. 00 a year to keep this waste of skin alive, is if they made sure that her cell is covered with pictures of her kids. Everytime she opens her eyes and sees them, she can be reminded of the innocent lives she selfishly ended.

I agree with mimprevento, the Shrinks and husband should be brought up on somesort of criminal negligence charge. This dingbat showed, quite a few times before this atrocity, that she was a hazard not only to herself but others as well.

Thinking

I was thinking of putting her in cell and make her watch home movies of her children for the next 100+ years. Then you can call her insane... ... . The death penalty is much too easy for most killers. Cosmic justice is a much better option. Like the killers of Matt Shepard, lockem up with a 6' 11" 300lb gay man for life. Cosmic justice!

Or that priest that molested all those boys. Lockem up with a 7' 350lb man who was molested as a child! Perfect... .....

If you can't do the time don't do the crime. She knew right from wrong. I think it would be to good for her to kill her. She needs to live for around 50 + more years in prison and think about her children.

If this woman is given a life sentence, I only hope she gets five life sentences - to be served consecutively, not concurrently. Concurrently means served all at the same time. Consecutively means served one after another. With the pictures, etc. , of her five children.

However, who would want to be her cell-mate - I mean after serving one life sentence she has died, but then to still have four more life sentences to serve!!! YUK!!!

Even though she is technically alive, I still don't think anyone would want to be her cellmate. She's about as ugly as a bucket full of a__holes.

Crazy or not, who cares!

Who cares if she is a looney or not ... did she do the crime?

If so then she should be dancing ... . dancing at the end of a rope that is ... and make it a Sunday outing kinda like in the old days. :D

Yup. He should be brought up on criminal negligence charges. They were warned after the FOURTH kid that if they had another, she was gonna snap. So they had another kid. STUPIDITY IN THE FLESH!!! I hope that the state presses charges against him.
