Read a sci-fi story once about a future where they execute you on the anniversary of your capital crime, then resuscitate you so you can reflect on what you did and they can execute you again next year. Pity we aren't that advanced. They say the oldest boy (7) fought to get his head above water, asked his mom(use the term loosely) why he was being punished and said he was sorry. Unbelievably horrific and tragic.

I voted "I DONT KNOW" - but one thing I do know... . I'm getting tired of people justifying their actions, whatever they may be, on their mental illness. That is bull excrement!

The reason I voted IDK is that its hard to be a arm chair jury from 2000 miles away - If she killed her kids and knew it was wrong when she did it, then let the good state of TX take care of the rest - they know what to do... .

Alright here's why I posted this.....

There have been many threads on here about how the news takes sides, and I know this to be true as a Radio/Television major, and here is a perfect example.

In on of my posts I said that my grandmother and I had different reactions, I thought the same thing as you guys, and she said she is insane. Now here is the kicker, sitting there watching the news with them, the news here says things like "... . people were shocked by the verdict..... " and other things like this. I have not been watching the news everyday, but she has. What a perfect example of how people can be persuaded by the news.

Someone, or thing has got to stop the media,

Andrew

THE MEDIA IS DETROYING THIS COUNTRY.

I'm just gonna type that every time I post from now on, 'cause it seems to relate to practically every subject we get on.

Anyway: about the woman who is "... as ugly as a bucket full of *$$holes) (me4osu You crack me up!) The way I see this situation, and every other similar one is like this:

You have the RIGHT to kill someone if it is to protect yourself, your family, or someone else who needs help and is truly the "good guy" about to get killed by the "bad guy". BUT, if you have captured such a "bad guy", then I believe you have the right to protect all the other good guys in society by keeping him (or her) behind bars for the rest of their lives. I am not convinced that you have the right to kill them, assuming you can keep them locked-up.

Opinions ?

Death Penalty

It serves a vaild objective of sentencing- retribution- keeping someone warehoused does not address the full issue of society having the right to impose the ultimate sanction for a crime with sufficiently heinous facts- On the issue of the media- we have members who enjoy Rush and Imus and Liddy and everything from the New York Times down to the National Enquirer ( I read it)- it is all media and we have the intelligence to judge it- a free (and sometimes irresponsible) press and visual media is still the cornerstone of a free society- in point of fact the same corporations that own conservative outlets like Rush own liberal outlets- we just pick who we want to listen to- at least we have the right to choose.

another example from tonights news....

More media madness on this story tonight. On the intro of a news story, the reporter said... . "everyone who agrees that this person was insane. " Just making that jury look wrong when I think, and most people here think it was right.

Media madness

MSNBC reported this evening that a viewer poll had 83% agreeing with the verdict and 51% supporting the death sentence in the case

Wish this was the case with the local news.

Andrew

I think that sitting in prison for the rest of her life thinking about it would be a worse sentance than execution. BTW, I am not opposed to capital punishment.

Drown her once - resuscitate her.

Drown her twice - resuscitate her.

Drown her three times - resuscitate her.

Drown her four times - resuscitate her.

Drown her five times - resuscitate her.

Then beat the living he!! out of her until she is dead!!

And I am having about the same thoughts about her husband.

nope, not even close.....

Actually, no your not. He wanted her to get off with the insane verdict. Once the verdict was read, he busted out in tears.

Andrew

I have listened to a few talk shows the past couple of days and cannot believe the number of people that say they are dumbfounded that she was found guilty and that she suffered from depression. What a crock of bull. I cannot believe what I'm hearing! Crazy or not, 5 kids are now dead because of this woman and she needs to die for what she did. Those little kids will never see the sun rise again, why should she?

A program that was on 2 days ago when the verdict came out said this was a very complex case to try. Well, it only took 4 hours of deliberation by a jury to find her guilty so it must not have been all that complex!! That is the way the system is supposed to work and the decision should be final.

I think they should stomp the **** out of her, then give her a blood transfusion so they could do it again. Texas and this jury has done a good job so far. Tomorrow will tell the tale. Gunny

I wanna choke the living crap outa the husband every time I hear him speak!!!! What an idiot. . how the hell does he work for NASA?????? Just wait til the prison population gets ahold of a child killer! LOL... although, I do think the jury wimped out. The husband needs to be castrated or imprisoned or something... . homicide by negelgence? He knew she was cooky and suicidal, and still left her with the kids... what a moron!
