Andrew Gray '97 CTD

Hi all

Im new here. Just joined. I bought my '97 2 years ago and its my first cummins and i love it. I am now looking to go to a newer one like a '01 or '02. I went to a few dodge dealers to talk trade and they just snubbed their nose at my '97. Its in great condition and low miles but wont give me hardly anything for it and just degraded it so bad im embarrassed to own it. I thought the dodge cummins is the best but after this experience im goin to go to ford even if i have to give it to them. Im very disappointed by their attitude and i will never own anotherdodge cummins. Great truck but they insulted me so bad and degraded their own product so bad it has turned me off completly. Sorry guys but dodge has turned me off. Could use all the encouragment you got.

If you love the truck so much why not just keep it? The last thing you want to do is listen to some half wit salesmen who more than likely doesn't even know what a diesel motor is. These trucks are known to have a few minor issues that need to be dealt with (kdp, etc. ), but overall they are very reliable and are capable of some very serious power output. If you really need a new truck keep shoping around. I got a trade in value of $12,000 for my '97 that has 147,000 miles and is in pretty decent condition. Put it up for sale in the classifieds, if it is in as good of shape as you say with low miles I bet you could get well over $12K for it. IMHO the last thing you want to do is go to Ford :(

Like the others said, don't listen to that salesman! IMHO, I would take a nice old 12 valver ANY DAY over a 24 valve or a 3rd Gen. If the truck is as nice as you say it is, I would bet my last dollar it will sell in a heartbeat in the classifieds!

Good Luck!

Paul

Keep the '97. You have the best combo of Cummins and Dodge made to date, with that 12 valve. If you want, you can do some upgrades to it. Don't listen to ANY salesmen. And definitely don't go to Ford. That's my $. 02.

I'm on my 2nd 97 12V'r CTD. I wouldn't own a POS FORD any day!

Don't listen to the idiotic salesman at the dealership, they are just out to make the most $$ they can buy selling you a new truck and giving you as LITTLE as possible on your used truck.

If you love your truck so much, and its in such great condition why not BOMB it?? (Better Off Modified Baby, the mod's you see in everyones sigs). You have the BEST combo out there for doing so. I'm not sure if your truck is an auto or stick, but you have the highest rated HP pump on your truck.

Your truck is capable of SO MUCH more power that you would be amazed! Your "old degraded truck" as known to the salesman could easily SPANK THE HELL outta one of those new 3rd Gens with just a few mods.

Trust me KEEP the 97 and BOMB it, you will not be disappointed.
