We've just added a video sharing service to the site! This has been in development since last summer and has been a huge project. It is fully integrated into our vBulletin system so you don't have to create a new user account to use it. If you look at my user name on the left of this post you'll see a video link there along with the photo gallery links - that video link will show up only if that person has videos and if you click on it you will be taken to that persons videos.

We beta tested this with staff and a number of users that volunteered to test for us (thanks guys!). Even though we've tested it as best as we can I FULLY expect that we're going to run into bugs. There is well over 100 hours of development time just from me to integrate this fully with our site so a lot of changes have been made and therefore a lot of opportunities for problems. Please let me know here if you run into any issues and I'll do my best to resolve it quickly. It is remotely possible that problems will arise that will require us to pull it back off line but I'm hoping that with the testing we've done that won't be necessary.

One very cool feature is that you can embed videos that you've uploaded directly into your posts in the forums if you wish. Look to the right of your video and you'll see an embed field, if you select that field and copy and paste that text into a post you'll get a video viewer in your post!

We really hope you guys enjoy this and please bear with us (me?) if we run into issues - thanks! If you have ideas for channels that we haven't put on there let us know and we'll consider them.

Keep in mind that guests can only view 60 seconds worth of video per day. Members have no limit at all.

One thing that needs to be mentioned is that there is a ZERO tolerance policy for inappropriate (copyright, obscene, etc) videos. Upload anything questionable and your ability to upload videos will be revoked - no second chances.

Enjoy!

I'm working on a solution to that. I discovered it last night. Videos that use slides (WMV3) won't convert using the video converter I'm using right now.

This is now fixed. I found a newer version of the video converter software (actually I already had it but it wouldn't compile before - had to recompile about 20 different packages to get it to work) that solved the issue.

Steve, What does the compression software mash and average size video down to. I have seen a couple videos that decompress a bit scrambled and are fine with a quick refresh.

There isn't really an average because it all depends on what bitrate the audio and video were on the original video, what format the video was in (avi, flv, wmv, etc), what resolution the video was in (they are converted to 320x240), etc. For an example the 2009 Ram 1500 intro video was 15. 2mb in the original wmv format (you can see it in that version in the 2009 ram intro article and converted on the video software it's 5. 6mb.

cool addition to the site Steve. Don't know if I was doing something wrong but, I am a TDR member and I was logged in but, it wouldn't let me load anything nor view more than one video.

BTW... OT from this thread but, I don't receive email notification of posts I've subscribed to. I've checked all the setting and everything is set right. This same issue happen at another site and it was resolved this way... ...

some IP addresses ( maybe yours ) are Blacklist by other IP's ( maybe mine ) as being a DSL/Cable/Dial-up Modem,(a comman source for Junk mail and viruses). Your server company has put in a request to the datacenter to have your IP address removed from the blacklist. Could it be possible this is the case with your server ?

When you go to it does it say Welcome, Triton to the right of the TDR Tv logo? Specifically, what does it tell you when you try to view a second video?

I'll get back to you on what's going on with your emails when I check the log file after this notification goes out.

Your emails are being accepted by your provider so they are there somewhere. Here is a log entry from this notification going out:

Jan 23 20:55:59 turbodieselregister sendmail[41064]: m0O1txsv041064: to=trm@****************.com, ctladdr=webmaster (1007/1007), delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=31812, relay=[127. 0. 0. 1] [127. 0. 0. 1], dsn=2. 0. 0, stat=Sent (m0O1txSG041066 Message accepted for delivery)

Check with your ISP to see if they have a spam folder where they put emails they think are spam. Usually you can go in there and bring up the email and then there is a link that says something like "this is not spam" and you click that and then those emails will then go through. Spam filters are a nightmare for webmasters!

Thanks for getting back Steve. If I'm logged in, go to the TV page and click " upload " it takes me to the page that explains the subscription process. As I said... I'm already logged in though. No, it doesn't say " welcome triton "

That's strange about the email. My server doesn't block any of my mail. I have my own spam filter but, I barely get any due to Norton blocking them. When I do get them, they go directly into my spam folder. I haven't received emails from TDR in a long time. The reason my response to you was delayed... I didn't know you posted back until I came to look.

As I mentioned... you IP address could be black listed by my IP. The only way to deal with that is for you to send a email to this address requesting your IP be removed from the black list. " -- email address removed -- " it just takes asking " to unblock your IP " in the email and they'll take care of it.

I can do that but I highly doubt that's the issue. When someone has a site blacklisted they refuse the emails and I'll get an error message that they've refused the connection. When the email is received as yours was they've always been found in a spam folder at the ISP. Try going to godaddy.com and pull down the email menu to "My Email account" and then login and look around there and see if there's a "junk" or "spam" folder, etc. I bet you'll find it there.

If it doesn't say "welcome triton" then it's not recognizing you as logged in. Check to make sure that you are allowing cookies to be set and that when you are logging in you are checking the "remember me" box. If that doesn't work then try deleting your cookies and log back in. If the cookie isn't set on your PC you'll have to log in all over the site - a lot of the site relies on cookies to pass you seamlessly from one package to the next.

I had this same problem on another forum and the email to the IP fixed it. I wrote to my IP and listed a couple sites including TDR. Below is the response I got back..... I don't know if the IP listed is TDR, if it's not though they should be able to unblock TDR. I'm going to send them the info you got from sending a email that says it was delivered. Maybe they can figure out where it went.

EDIT: Ok, there was a spam filter at godaddy. It was on but, I also had TDR and a couple other sites added in as safe sites but still wasn't getting anything. I changed a few things around so I'll see how that goes. Thanks for the help Steve.

Thank you for contacting Online Support. Unfortunately, the IP address 216. 40. 255. 114 is not eligible for unblocking. This IP address comes from a cable/dsl/dialup pool, or other dynamic IP pool. Connections coming from a pool are nearly impossible to trace back to the originating computer. It is for that very reason that cable/dsl/dialup pools are very commonly used by spammers and virus writers.

Due to the large number of virus-infected personal computers on cable/dsl/dialup connections, we no longer accept mail directly from these sources. Senders in cable/dsl/dialup pools should configure their mail software to send outgoing mail through their ISP's dedicated outgoing mail server. The server is usually named 'smtp. example.com' or 'mail. example.com'. The ISP's support line will be able to give you more details. We have whitelisted the mail server of most major ISPs, so the mail will get through if sent through these systems.

btw... . I see now that you have to log in again to do anything with the video's. As I said, I was already logged in when I went to the video page. Apparently, it takes logging in again there to make any posts.

Sorry for any confusion... I do know computers better than it sounds  Just wouldn't have expected to have to log back in again.

Like I said above you shouldn't have to log in again if your PC is accepting cookies and they aren't corrupted.

I don't know where you got that IP address from but it definitely is not one of ours. Let me know if you don't get this. The TDR notification emails come from so that's the address you need to allow in your spam filter.

cookies are being accepted but, i do still need to log in again???. I wasn't sure if that IP was yours or not. I did note the TDR .com address when I wrote them.

No, I didn't get a email about your post. I should have as it was after I turned off the filter on my server. I also do have turbodieselregister.com on the accept list but, still nothing. I used to get them all but then they just stopped.

I'll go look around some more but, I'm just about positive everything is set correctly on my IP and the forum setup. Obviously, it's nothing on your end. I appreciate the help trying to figure it out... . I can live without it if all else fails :)

great idea! but quality is lacking so far, I loaded the same file to "you tube" and MUCH clearer there. "management" is hilarious!
