Annoyed at the spectre of $5 a gallon diesel?

To tailgate, or not to tailgate?

$ 2.99 diesel

I disagree. blaming it on the evil democrats is not the reason. How about GREED and huge, obscene profits by the oil companys are the reason (lets see now, Bush is an oil man right?)

I really do not think the blame can be placed on any one person. If you dont like the prospects of this bill do as many people do and write your representatives. If you already did, then emplore others to do the same. I hope that before too long some voices will begin to be heard. I shudder to think of what a five dollar increase would bring about.

Which party do you suppose most "obstructionist environmentalists" belong to? Even the Sierra Club has admitted that more nuclear power plants are necessary to provide clean sustainable energy. An alternative to fossil fuels is inevitable, but do to the infrastructure in place it must take place over twenty-thirty years in order to maintain the world economy. Coming from an admitted right leaning independent, four decades of inaction by all the past administrations has led to this impasse. Allowing exploration and development of proven existing reserves of petrolem will buy us time in our lifetime. Constantly evolving technology will solve the subsequent needs of the future generations. Get over it.

Diesel

In the little town I live outside of diesel is $4. 999.

As far as I'm concerned drilling can start in downtown Phoenix, Las Angeles (they already do!) Sacramento, San Francisco, Seattle and other environmentally friendly places, Anwar and off all coasts of the US.

Screw the enviro wackos:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I think we need to start with a clean slate of legislators (elected officials) that are in touch with the average American.

I personally don't care how much the price of fuel is, as long as I can reasonably afford it.

Until we go back to the "horse and buggy" days, the average working person in America needs gas/diesel to get to work.

The average U. S. Senator/Congressman/Cogresswoman just doesn't get it.

Ok, I feel better now. :)

Instead of trying to legislate change and following someone else's failing model, we need to be doing what made this country great by leading the world in innovation and research. Every year some group legislates more restrictions on free thought and innovative ideas. Just look at the current struggles for those experimenting with biofuels(regulations and taxes). These restrictions should be a lifted until the technology becomes more advanced and more mainstream. That is how you generate new ideas. Not by figuring out how to tax them before they are even suitable for the other 98% of the populous.

As for drilling in places like ANWR and new offshore platforms. Go look at Wyoming. Years ago the oilfield were full of derricks and pumps and the technology was far less enviro-friendly than it is now. But if you ride through today most people can't spot the old fields. The wildlife certainly does not care. There are very few places where as long as proper techniques and safeguards are used that drilling will make any long term problems.

The idiot senator Maria Cantwell here in Washington State is the one that stopped the drilling in ANWR. Yet, she is the one that is trying to investigate the oil companies. I've heard that she is considered to be second only to Patty Murray, our other senator, as the dimmest bulb in congress. I just can't understand how either of them were ever elected, let alone reelected. Well, maybe I can to a point. The republicans in this state, for the most part, are just as stupid. This is the state were the republicans ran Ellen Craswell, a completely unelectable candidate, for governor a few years ago. So when they finally run a viable candidate (last time), the left wing power in the state is so corrupt, they were able to "find" votes to win the governors race by just a couple hundred (if that much) votes after 3 recounts.

state taxes get 6-8%
on top of the federal flat tax

falling value of dollar,
popularity of diesel
lack of infrastructure for refining
legislation of clean fuel bills
Emissions

oh, and everything at the grocery store and everywhere else has gone up as transportation cost more (among other law suits and the weakening dollar)

I still can't believe that the ACLU is basically subsidized by our tax dollars. They make law suits against good organizations like churches, Boy Scouts of America, and govt (not always good), and if they win the judgment goes back into their non-profit organization where their opportunistic lawyers are paid handsomely.

LEGAL TERRORISM

Ive heard that as well. Maybe even cheaper than that. I think I also heard its only 12 cents in Venezuela.

If we dont have enough refinery capacity, I dont understand why we havent built refinerys just south of the border in Mexico. They dont have the environmentalist waco's that we have, they dont need to do the impact studies that we have to, it would solve the refinery supply problem, it would provide jobs in Mexico (maybe less illegals coming across the border), etc.

Seems like a no brainer to me

If so - and it's already $4. 69 here in eastern Oregon - what will you think if upcoming legislation raises the price by ANOTHER $1. 50 to $5 a gallon?

Senators Warn Bill Could Spike Gas $1. 50 to $5 a Gallon

$4. 69 is exactly where we're at here in So Fla. Its depressing watching these poor gas station employees having to run out to the price sign and change those numbers almost hourly . Gonna call OSHA before some one suffers a back injury.

I have a fuel/maintenance log book that I enter all expense related to operating the truck. I have fuel purchases recorded all the way back to 1998 when I bought my first CTD .

The cheapest fuel I ever bought was at a Flyin' J Truck in Georgia .

I believe it was 1999 and it was 98 cents a gallon ( road diesel)!

Man are we gettin screwed!#@$%!

In Reno, we have finally hit the tipping point. I imagine what happened yesterday will really wake up a lot of people to the seriousness of this issue. A business that makes a product and then sends it around town to other businesses closed because the fuel costs are too high to stay in business. Not enough people were visiting the main store and most of their money was coming from the other companies. Bye, bye, Krispy Kreme!

go ask Dino rossi, how he lost the election for governor a few years back, then you will figure it out

$2. 10 in Camargo, Mexico last week. It's a border town across from Rio Grande City, Texas. The funny part is, its being refined in Houston, Texas. If you wonder about the price of diesel, understand diesel is a by-product of the production of gasoline.

WHAT THE HELL !!!!!

$2. 10 IN MEXICO???!!!

The Mexican Peso/Dollar is worth more than the US Dollar?

We need to send out an alert to all illegals that the jobs are on the other side , they must've missed the all manufacturing plants while they were sneaking in at night .

We need to sneak across into Mexico and create some anchor babies to claim residency.

Some heads need to roll over this $### .

#@$%!
