How's the #10 in an auto? I currently have the #6 / 370's and wondering how much of a gain it would be to swap to the 10. I know the turbo is at the limits and beyond. That's the next big purchase. Thanks, Mike

I'm surprised you haven't wrecked your transmission already. Any more power and you are just asking to be stuck on the side of the road. DO THE transmission NEXT lest you face :{

I am not too familiar with the #6, but if I had to guess I do not think the #10 will yield any additional peak HP. The reason it is preferred is it's versatility as far as HP and EGT adjustment and the fact it is very easy on low end fueling which is preferred for a stock automatic.

Plus the shape of the power curve with the curved profile on the plate (#10). Not a "stepped" profile like some of the others. Have you put in bigger delivery valves yet?

I have ran both plates 10 & 6 in the same truck. The 6 plate is much more aggressive on the bottom end. If you try the 10 plate, you will find a much smoother power. The 10 plate also needs and works well with a GSK. How are EGTs with the 370 injectors?

Does it start to de-fuel at 2700 or does it fall on its face at 2700???? I thought the same thing about my 97 ... but once I did the 3k GSK... I found out that there is a whole new driving experience. The rpms sweep so fast and smooth with the springs... nothing like the stock setup.

It makes shifting the 5 speed smoother while pulling a trailer. I wish I had done the springs even before I done my first plate(#11). Now with this #10 plate and 3k GSK and stock 215 injectors... the truck pulls great.

Looks lie I'll probably stick with the #6 plate. The EGT's with the 370's and #6 can get a little hot but the right foot controls that. I can tow all day long at 65 and never worry about it. It's only when the foot hits the floorboard that I have to watch the temps. The reason I asked about the 10 is that the TST chart shows it rates at 330 hp in the manual and the 6 is rated at 250 in the auto. Thanks, Mike

RHARVEY-

Pretty much on its face at a little past 27. Good up to 26 or so then starts cutting off. This is with a stock plate though, haven't been much over 68mph with the #10, so I can't compare it yet that way. Doesn't matter to me though. Rarely pull anything at highway speed since most of it is farm equipment. Even on the interstate, I RARELY go over 70mph, so the RPM aren't that high anyhow.

DSiemens-

The chart doesn't necessarily mean a whole lot. That is mostly for a plate in stock position. Slide the plate forward, and you can get more power out of it. Slide it in an auto (180hp) truck, and you could probably (un-educated guess) get another 30hp (?) out of it if everything else is stock.

I thought everyone was praising the TST 10 plate. It's listed as 330 hp in the manual trucks. Just wondering if it was usable and beneficial in the auto's.

The manual they are talking about (federal) has a diferent fueling level unlike any others in these trucks. It will not make big power on its own in the lesser pumps but it is very easy to work with.

Bob

you will see that the 10 plate is rated at 220/570 while the 6 plate is rated 250/635 for your truck. I

Depends on who is setting it up, that chart is useless to me!

Go with the #10 i did after much debate with myself but i trusted Jim fulmer and Mark @ piers they are great guys to talk to and very helpful.

i slid my 10 a little above stock and could slip the clutch but in the stock position the clutch held fine n e way needless to say i couldn't stand there was more hp there that i couldn't get to so i got the Con O southbend clutch installed and slid the plate foward. i can smoke 01-02 HO's cummins and powerstrokes with out effort now. still haven't found an 03-04 that will play oh well

i am very happy and that still running 12. 5* timming can't wait till i turn that up too

The #10 & 3K GSK are awesome. These two mods knocked 3. 5 seconds off my quarter mile time using a G- Tech. Temperatures are also good

Stock trans. still pulling strong:D

Is the GSK a must have for the #10? I NEVER have had my truck over 2100 rpm. Just havent had the need to. Has plenty of power in the 1800 range I tow in.

Chris

The 3K GSK does more than increase the top rpms; it changes the fueling characteristics in tandem with the #10 plate, so that you'll get more ooomph (joy factor :D ) in your favorite rev band.

No.

britannic is right on though. The GSK does more than change the peak RPM before defueling starts to set it. I think it is a great addition to any truck/plate.
