Competition Pulling advice

Snowman just ran a 12. 26 @ 110 mph. On the pass prior he managed a 12. 30@ 110 mph. This was done on a day that the temperature is almost 90* and over 90% humidity! Way to go John!

Doug

Way to go snowman!

I know your goal was to get in the 12s from you 13. 19.

Did you get that thing o-ringed & nitrous?

Thanks Doug for posting this! I am very happy with the times I got today. The air wasnt good at all and the temps when i ran were between 89-91 degrees. I ran with 4. 10 gears, this hurt my mph. The rest of the faster run looked like this.

60' 1. 702

330' 4. 987

1/8' 7. 792

mph 87. 78

1000 10. 208

1/4 12. 260

mph 109. 25

One thing I can say is I have no defueling issues in 1st gear that I know of.

I want to thank Doug Smith (jet pilot) for posting this, and for all his help and advice setting up the N20 system. The truck runs better than I expected.

I also cannot say how much Steve Opies billet output shaft helped out. As I have posted I broke 2 shafts launching in 4wd. I launched today at 20+psi,and spiked 30 psi building boost by accident. This would have snapped my stock shafts in a second. The DTT trans also performed perfectly, banging off every gear, and locking up perfectly at 1/2 track.

I need to work on air flow now, the B1 turbo has been excellent, but I need to either wastegate it or go with twins, also the 4" exhaust is going to be replaced by a 5" soon.

Good times there, Dang that neck breaking 60ft and the 7. 70 in the 1/8... my best 1/8th is 8. 35... . and you wanted to race me..... no way!

Congrats John!

That is nothing short of awesome. I can't hardly believe your 60 ft times. Again congratulations.

Chris

P. S. I sent you an e-mail.

All I know is My nextel went off this afternoon and the funniest thing happened ... . The PHONE ITSELF WAS SMILING! Man oh man john I can't wait to see the windrows of snow this year #ad

I have both runs on video(VHS-C),im trying to get copys of them. C-hawk, the 1. 7 60 ft can be improved. I think it has a 1. 6 in it, I was launching at 20psi,I didnt get another run,i want to try 25psi next time, and ramp up the progressive controller sooner. I was just about wound out at about 1100 ft,as you can see by the mph. You should have seen the look on the grand national drivers face as i left him in the smoke,he ran 13. 1. The announcer was ranting about the runs.

Congratulations John,

Glad to see you put up a nice time like that. I assume this means that you like the progressive controller? Now you need to hit the dyno and see what kind of numbers your getting. Us East coast boys have been getting pounded by the West Coasters so far this year.

Ted

TEXAS-SIZED congrats to Snowman. I know how hard it is getting to those low times in a Dodge. Just like getting into the 12's with a Ford, which was finally done in public. ;)

Nice job guys, keep it up, them Fords are catching up. :eek: :{

Andrew

Snow man, ya done smiling yet :D

Yup, TMTT, the nextel had a different sound to it when it was John. Must be the guys at OCC working a little magic on that truck????

Thanks everyone! I need to get on the rollers to tune the truck, and id still like to get the B1 wastegated at the minimum. Ted, I didnt get time to tune the NX progressive controller much, in fact I wasnt sure where to start at,so i set it on a 50% initial hit,and ramp up to full power in 2. 2 seconds. Id like to drop the ramp up rate to 2 seconds, and try that. A lot of guys talk about defueling issues with the Vp44 in 1st gear, I can say with 99% certainty that my truck doesnt defuel. It flat out rocked out of the hole,I didnt feel anything but G forces, and 4 tires barking for traction. :D . Possibly the progressive controller is keeping the truck from defueling?I am defueling badly at the end of the runs though,it is just up against the rev limiter. Its amazing how fast the truck goes thru the 1st 3 gears,it feels like its in OD around 600ft down. then it locks about 100 ft later, after it locks, the truck feels like it goes into warp mode until the tack is hanging at 3400. I tried a street 4wd launch last night and it blew all 4 tires off when the nitrous hit for about 30 ft:D . Traction is much better at the track in the heat than on the street . Id like ot go to 3. 55 gears, but i still use this truck for plowing and work, the 4. 10's are the ticket for plowing,so im going to leave them and see what i can do to get my truck to top speed quicker.

Damn it John, you need to drag Smith's ass with you so we could count that as the street diesel national record. Great job, and launch with 30 psi next time.
