Well I guess I'm faced with a decision. After all that I have been through with this pig with no change in power or mileage, the dealer says that DC says there is nothing more that they can(will )do to resolve the problem. The truck still cannot pull 7K without having to come out of OD and mileage is still 8-10 towing and 14-16 empty. The dealer did say that I am eligible for "Lemon Law" enactment. Under New York State guidelines,, I would be refunded the entire cost of the truck "as received" from the dealer with tax included. I really love the truck and would love to find another brand new 2002 exactly like what I have except in the fact I would get the H. O w/6 spd.

The fee to enact it is $200. So now my choices are :

1. ) Keep It - BOMB it! (EZ?)

2. ) Lemon Law it - Get another 2002

3. ) Lemon Law it - Hold off for a 2003

4. ) Do nothing and live with it - Not in this lifetime!

Does anybody know of any dealers (preferably in the Northeast) that have an abundance of 2002 1-ton's on the lot that I can contact in regards to getting another 2002? Thanks for listening...

JEEZE!

Threads like this absolutely blow me away!

I put about $3500 in various towing improvement mods in my '91 - all the Banks stuff, US Gear OD and propane injection, plus generous tweaking on the injector pump. That truck was dead reliable, passed EVERYTHING anywhere NEAR its load in the hills, and still got what I considered excellent mileage - when I kept my foot out of it!;) :D

We used it to pull our 7000 lb or so 5th wheel - and LOVED it for 120,000 miles and then the new one was bought...

The new one will match the old one very closely in power and economy right outta the box, and is HEAD AND SHOULDERS above 'old reliable" in convenience and comfort - we LOVE IT!

SO, what *I* can't figure, is WHERE do these ocassional complaints about RADICAL low performance levels in new trucks COME from?

And it's not just HERE either, I see the same sort of posts in the Ford and GM groups as well!

You dealer is FAR more accomodating than ANY I have read about here - and of your available choices, *I* would eat the $200 and get the HO setup, and THEN if you still feel pressed for power, spring for another 5-6 hundred dollars and get one of the performance boxes... :p ;)
