Checked in with Barry from 2 guys 1 garage about the 2nd gen seat motors replacement and this is what he had to say.

Craig,

I’ve installed the kit on my “bench” seat assembly, and it works OK, but I’m not happy with the connection from the screw assembly to the rotating shaft. There’s just too much play in the connection and the customer would have to do to many modifications at their end. I’m working on getting somebody to manufacturer the correct adapter piece for me. Finding a machine shop to do small runs of items is tough. I don’t want to order 2000 and be stuck with them for years. * I would like 200 or so produced. I’m looking at having the adapter machined from delrin. The factory one is nylon or delrin I think. The current one I was planning to use is an off the shelve adapter from my supplier. I will get a solution out, I just want to do it right.

Thanks for checking in.

After asking about helping find someone to machine the needed parts he had this reply:

Feel free to let them know. If somebody has a machine shop that wants some business, have them email me. I’m looking for an initial volume run of 200 units. They could be made out of steel, delrin, nylon, etc. I just don’t want them to brake or crack and I want them to fit like the factory ones do. I can’t reuse the factory ones because they have left hand acme threads and my motors have right hand acme threads.

Thanks for everything.

Barry

SO... There you have it. If you or know someone who can help Barry let me know and I'll put you in contact with him.

Thanks

Craig

Boy I hope this all gets worked out... ... One of my seat motors has been shot for about a year and I have not been able to find any feasible ( $$$ ) way to fix it.

Craig; Thanks for staying on this issue!

Do you have any pictures of the motor and brackets? I need to find something that will work in the '54 Ford glasstop I am restoring. It came with an electric front bench seat and electric windows. I need motors for them too.
