well fellas, guess what? I finally did the 366! thanks to the instructions Pastor Bob made up, and a lot of patients, its all done. i havnet drove the truck yet, i finished everything last night about 2a. m. and just got home from church now, so i havent run in on the road yet. that will be fun. but i got the idle all set and everything. that index on the throttle was a PAIN. i took a picture, and whatnot, but i couldnt decide between 2 teeth on the gear. but between that and the idle screw, shes set back at bout 850rpms. it started off at 1200, then i droped it a tooth, took it to 400rpms, that was a little exciting :D sounded like i had a cam in it.

Matt, ill be sure to let you know how it does, sence i havnt adjusted the fuel screw or anything. so you can tell what a 366 does in a stock pump.

Now i have a question about griding the cone... after taking it out and seeing it, where/what do you grind. thats the next thing im going to do, along with the fuel screw.

thanks yall. ill get pictures up from the install soon, there are some pretty good ones. take it easy, Jimmy

It's about time you did that!

So did you go to Pastor Bobs church? :D

I took pics of the index too. They sucked and I had to figure it out. ;)

On the cone, do a search for pics. Basically, you grind the small part smaller, and don't touch the bottom of the ramp. I did mine with a 4" grinder, then smoothed it off with a dremel tool. I think the grinder was a little overkill. :-laf

yea i know, i just got real busy with having to graduate highschool (pain in the butt, but had to do it for mom :) )

then starting back work full time, 2 jobs... you know how it is. life gets in the way.

ok so do i just taper it down just to where the recesed line is? ill look for pictures. and as far as turning up the fuel? is all i need to to crank the screw in? or are their other adjustments needed. i assume the idle will need lowering after that?

thanks pete.

by the way. matt..... a stock pump with the 366: ill say this. with the stock valve springs i didnt want to take it over 3k, so i took it to just about 2900, an she was still gettin it. that thing wanted to go. my egts will raise faster now, and get higher maximum. i noticed some more power from about 1700+. it feels like it acellarates smother and stronger. i love it. cant wait to do the rest to the pump. i need some more boost though, to keep things cooler.

Jimmy, haven't heard from you in a while.

My 366 bumped my idle way up too. I've been thinking about bending that throttle return spring to give it more tension to drop my idle. Right now the thing wont even bottom out even though I have the idle screw taken completely out.

Jimmy, you can scoot it up to 3,3100 if you want. It won't hurt anything. Just don't hold it there with no load! :-laf If you are going to wind it alot regularly, then you need 60lb springs.

Don't grind the big part (bottom) of the cone, this is the "just off idle" part. Start at the middle and cut the thin part thinner.

On the screw, yup! You will have to turn the idle down. Just turn the fuel screw in about 1/4 to 1/2 a turn, then blip the throttle. When it starts to float, and not drop, turn it back out about 1/4.

When you had the top off, you should have removed the idle screw and turned it around, and removed the collar from the fuel screw. ;)

matt, cant you change the index on the linkage? the index on mine was like 1200rpm, then 400rpm, so i put it do the 400rpm gear, and just put the idle screw out a bit.

pete, thanks, thats good to know. i plan on the 60lbs sometime this fall.

how much more boost should i expect from grinding the cone?

so i should only turn the fuel screw in 1/4 to 1/2 turn total? then turn in back out if it floats? or do you mean turn it at 1/4 to 1/2 increments?

i didnt turn the idle screw around... what benefit does that have? i could still do it with the top on if i wanted.

i did take the collar off the fuel screw. what a pain! is was crimped then what looked like a spotweld. the treads were all mashed beneth it, thanks to the little weld, or heat the put on it.

Jeez, do I look like the answerman? How much more boost? All of it!

I meant increments, 1/2 a turn isn't much sometimes.

If you turn the screw around, you don't have to fight to set the idle, it's right there.

Probably shoulda cleaned the threads where the collar was. ;)

i see, so you mean that i should be able to get past 20? mine seems to top out there.

yea i thought about cleaning the threads but didnt have a threader on hand. i will eventually. i just figured i wouldnt be cranking it in 8-10 turns in the near future. it should do for now.

thanks pete.

So Jimmy... where are the damn pics??!! Been thinking about doing mine and the ol' smoky pin I have, but the '93 has been running so sweet lately, I'm afraid to touch it!!! :D

hahaha, their on their way. problem being their on my buddies camera, an he hasnt sent em to me yet.

hey yall, one question on the idle. when cold start the truck its about 800rpm on the dot, after driving it at highway speed for bout 10 minutes, it idles at 900+rpms. and stays there till i get to work. in the evning on the way home, it starts up at bout 800rpms, and is still about there, when i get home, maybe 850, but closer to 800. i checked the idle screw, its tight. whats the deal here? 900 just seems to high for my liking. i may drop it to 700 so the fluctuation is within the 700-800 range.
