Oh, I hate to do this... . 126,000, tow daily, tow heavy. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . no cracks ... yet. KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!!! I am not supersticious!

99 with 77000 on it. ATS triple lock, Edge Comp Box, 4" exhaust. full gauges no leaks yet. I also will KNOCK , KNOCK , KNOCK ON WOOD. 15. 6 IN 1/4 MILE. Lets hope it never happens. :--) Betty

I just bought a '99 with 183000 miles from Tx. on ebay. I knew nothing about the 53 block till I was cruising around looking for info on the 24V. I got the '53'. Truck had a ball in bed, former owner not locateable so don't know what used for. I assume no power mods, truck condition absolutely mint, if proper care can help the longevity. .

Discovered coolant oozing out passenger side of block just above freeze plugs @ 240000. Yep it's a 53. See profile for mods - none related to crack so far as I can tell from much research of the 53 problem.

Holden' off

Yup, gotter up on ramps and took a look just to make sure and sure enough a big 53 lookin, back at me. No real bombing as of yet, ATS,BHAF,Magnaflow no ring in turbo. I'm anal enough to just trade her off and start over, too much redoing these things just to get where they should have started out. I'll still be lurking, just ain't buying. Mike

I just crawled under mine yesterday and guess what... I'm another 53 club member... Truck has 126,000 on it but its pretty much stock. . Well I guess gives me a reason to buy a 6-spd like a really want...

Yep I'd rather had a standard in mine but during our vacation we only take the truck and Mommy won't try a stick, at 4' 10" can't say I blame her. Probably end up trading or selling this thing, spent a lot of money and now still can't be sure even about the big stuff. Thinking if I trade it the buyer has a warranty(such as it is) but should still cover engine block. Mike

53 block

Have 90,000 miles on my 53 block is an early build from Brazil YUK! No problems with the engine at all. Three torque converters and now in for a totally new transmission with a triple lock. Tow a 7,500 lb bumper pull and horse trailer. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Wish the transmission was as strong as the Mickey Mouse 53 block!! My wife tells me to buy a new truck but I just love my truck except for the transmission problems. Must be too much torque for the last two converters? Blew the first one completely and installed a double lock converter and I'm guessing the installer didn't clean out the transmission when he put the new converter in as something is plugged in the valve body now. Hope the new transmission solves my problems? have a great warranty with the new one. Lifetime including labor on the converter (triple lock) and 3 yrs. 100,000 miles on the transmission. Told the builders I don't want to use either warranty. I'll post if all is well when I pick it up. Can't be without a truck in Central Oregon.
