K5, I found a 10K on Amazon. And just to be clear for me. The compressor will still cycle with the 10K in series, it just does so in accordance with what setting I have the 10K at (0 ohms on up to the 10k). I know you said this above but I want to be very clear on this before cutting!

I'd love to walk into Radio Shack to get this but they are no longer here in Bismarck. Closed up shop and left!

Ok, I did some research on the 10K pot. My understanding is I use the two outer hook-ups and leave the middle one empty when hooking the pot in series with the ground wire of the sensor. Do I understand this correctly?

Dave,
This mod would only work with a sensor that is still functional, Remember, you are still using the sensor, only modifying the operating range. Kinda the same thing as relocating it.
It is a JK thermocouple and I originally measured the resistance on mine to be sure it was OK. I cant find the data right now but can probably come up with it again if you like/.
If you are serious about this I think you should go with the pot instead of a fixed resistor and switch. There are probably more variables than I recognize.
I think I can come up with a care package for you from my junk box. (parts and schematic). PM me if you are serious.

JDoremire,
Be aware of two things if you do this. When you run the system too warm, it will not do a good job of removing moisture from the air, probably not a a problem in AZ.
The second thing is that using the cycling of the compressor to control the air temp causes a deadband around the temperature set point, variations of several degrees occur.
The original mode which mixes warm air to control temperature does a much better, more consistent job of temperature control.

Update: Took the truck to the neighborhood Firestone. They vacuumed the system and refilled it. We then took it on a 9 day camping trip where outside temps ran in the upper 90's. The A/C worked like a champ!. One note to make here. I took the dummy route here and spent $45 on the product, A/C Pro. When I hooked it to the system, it showed my A/C was low on Freon. So following the instructions, I pulled the trigger for 5 to 10 seconds and then re-read the gauge. It moved upward and ended up in the bottom end of the "good" range. I took it to Firestone anyways. Glad I did. After using the A/C Pro, I was about 1 pound overfilled. The A/C Pro gauge never showed me as overfilled. So this little mis-step on my part cost me $45 for the product and $52 for Firestone to straighten it out. In any event, at the end of the day, my A/C is back to working as advertised.
