My brake light and ABS light comes on occasionally while I am at a stoplight with the brake depressed. It stays on until I shut down the truck, then it is gone when I restart. Any Ideas???
Seems the ABS warning system is sensitive to all kinds of things. Mine has come on whenever the low washer fluid light comes on since new and even if I fill the washer fluid it stays on till the next start up. No kidding. I don't even know where to begin fixing it...
I had the same problem when I was adjusting the rear brakes, and I found out the only way to make them go off was to disconnect the batteries. It worked on my truck, but it migh not on everyone elses, It's worth a shot.
Just as a test you might try creeping a little at stop lights and see if the ABS light still comes on. Apparently if the truck is not moving the system does a self test. If the truck moves a little it doesn't do that. Mine does the same thing if I let it sit still for a little while especially when I first start up. If it creeps once in a while I can prevent the light business. Pressing the brake pedal doesn't seem to matter. Nor does speeding up the engine.
