Put it on today. It replaced the BHAF. Here’s what I think:

- Turbo seems to spool-up faster

- Max boost (empty) is now ~28#, where it was ~26# with the BHAF

- Running empty (uphill, WOT, 6th gear) EGTs max at ~1100, where they would creep up to ~1150-1200 with the BHAF…perhaps pulling something would show a bigger difference

- I can hit 25# of boost in 4th gear…never did that before, that I can remember

- The truck accelerates better…more smoothly…probably due to the faster spool-up…or this could be my imagination

-The sound is nice…not too loud…just a nice whoosh

- Would prefer they left out the filter-minder hole

I like the filter, but I’m not sure the whole unit is worth the money. If they included a nice replacement turbo hose, like the K&N system does, I’d say it’s worth the money; but without the turbo hose, $200 is a lot. I wouldn’t argue with anyone who just buys the filter and not the Mega Cannon unit. The filter is nice.

You can purchase just the filter for around $60. I used my Mallory mount and just installed the AFE filter in it, works great!

Can someone give me the AFE Megacannon replacement filter # and where to buy it? Somehow lost the link and want to try it instead of my BHAF.

Another alternative..........

Scott's got some more tricks up his sleeve... ... Scotty II is alive and ready to hit the streets! Uses both the cowl inlet of the original Scotty Air and the factory fender hole... ... or if you don't want the turbo whine Scott will sell it to you with the cowl end capped-if at some point in the future you wanna make the leap to maximum EGT drop you can open it up!

http://www.dieselpowerplus.com/pa-install.html will take you to the install page so you can get an idea of what it looks like... .

LOL!

Na, I'm still alive. I had just gotten my truck where I wanted it, and took a break from the forum to give my wallet a rest.

Looks like the MC will get most of the air from the fender opening; but the metal base does not completely seal off the engine compartment air, so it will suck in some hot air.

The new Scotty2....

How does air get "around" the filter inside the cannister with such a tight fit. Does this restrict it or even matter?

Paul, did you get those diamond plate rocker panels on yet? Any pics?

That's a question you'd have to ask the man himself Walker-I don't have mine yet..... one of these days I'll make enough power to actually need it! :D There's a contact link on his site at www.dieselpowerplus.com ... ...

As a note of correction, Scott informed me that the cowl end is open on all of them instead of having the option to seal it as I previously reported. If you don't want to cut the hole you just let the cowl hole butt up against the firewall insulation to seal it up.....

HTH
