I'm not done researching but thought I'd ask before it got too late.

I was driving to work tonight on the interstate and all of a sudden my CEL came on and the engine dropped to idle. First time I was thankful for traffic, I had to get over five lanes doing 5mph (PITA). Everybody else was doing 40. I sat in the E lane and just sitting there idling it fixed itself. I got to work, another 10 mins down the road, no problems.

I checked the codes. PCU P1693 and ECU P0121. A friend has a code book and said the P0121 code was APPS voltage does not agree with ECU. He said there was a test that I could do with a multimeter.

After doing a little research I found you can recal the APPS and need to after you have the battery disconnected. I've worked on my truck a few times in last couple months were I disconnected the battery and my service manual didn't say anything about recaling the APPS.

If this is an intermittent problem which it seems to be, would it be worth doing a test on the APPS?

It has been acting strange lately, slightly surging sometimes, rough idle sometimes, etc...

All of the mods below have been done within the last 3 months, the DDUFM being the last, about 1500 miles ago.

Any suggestions?

I disconnected my batteries this morning, unpluged the three connectors on the pcm, cleaned up the batt terminals and posts, reconnected everything and "calibrated" the APPS.

No dice, well, I'm guessing not because my CEL is still on and codes are the same. It didn't happen again on the 20 minute ride home, comp box on or off.

Shouldn't having the batts disconnected for 45mins reset the CEL??? If so, is the pcm sensing that something is wrong with the APPS (P0121) even though it's not malfunctioning at this time?

TIA

I have no idea about specifics... but my Dodge dealer once told me disconnecting the batteries would clear codes to some extent, perhaps such that you didn't have a check engine light any longer. But they would always remain somewhere in the computer unless removed with a scan tool.

I'm sure someone could expand or clarify this for you.

I think the CEL light will stay on for 10 starts or some number around there. So if you don't have the problem for the next week or so the light should go off.

Yes I did.

The only problem that I have now, and before the replacement of the APPS is occasionaly when I step on the go pedel, to about the same travel distance around 1/4 pedel, the motor seems lazy as if I only went to 1/8th pedel. If I release and hit the pedel again all is good. This happens in park drive netural. does not matter.

I have no clue.
