Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) another auto transmission question

somebody that has done it, please explain and give me some advice. i need a transmission upgrade. valve body, deeper pan. what else? where did you get the parts? who installed them? is a valve body something a shade tree mechanic can do? i have a 2001 club cab, 2500 auto. edge box on the way. i dont tow real heavy. just looking to make things last. thanks, matt

I am a shadetree mechanic. Last weekend I installed a DTT upgrade kit (billet input shaft, gear, piston and new clutches and seals) along with the valve body and torque converter. Give DTT a call, here is a link to their website.
