I did search and can't seem to find out, being new here, and knowing the need for gauges, what would I be looking for in boost readings (too high, too low, time to down shift, time to back off throttle) what are the dangers of too high or to low readings. thanks Chris

On a stock truck, you should see 18-20psi max at WOT. At idle and low RPM's you should have zero boost. You should'nt see anything other then that on a stock truck unless something is wrong. Low boost would be an indication of a possible loose hose clamp or some other boost leak. Higher then 20PSI would mean a stuck or broken wastegate.

Boost gauge is used mostly as a troubleshooting aid. If you watch it a lot, you can catch leaks as they start to happen. Not much danger in too much boost other than setting overboost code if you don't have the MAP sensor fooled. The real danger is low boost and the really high EGT's that go along with it.
