TMTT,

I have always posted prices in the forum, as far as I'm concerned its one of the most valuable pieces of information that can be passed between members.

Where does it state that prices can't be quoted by members?

From what I read in the Site Guidelines, that only applies to direct vendor solicitation.

Please inform, I'm asking will I recieve.

If TMTT answers that you can post prices, will someone please post the price.

no deer around here, but lots and lots of riced out honda's on the freeway, just asking for a rear bumper adjustment! I love those bumpers, but $1000! The wife just gives me one of those WIFE looks  , and walks away. some day;)

CFast cautioned:

The wife just gives me one of those WIFE looks

You mean you didn't just turn on THE POWER?

Actually, THE POWER works best at a distance. Since the wife is in BZ I show up occasionally with mods to the truck. I wonder if she will notice the line-Xed flatbed? :D

The bumper needs to be marketed to the wife on two strong points: safety and cost/benefit. There are statistics around about the number of deer hit each year. Deer kill more people than any other critter (microbes and people excluded). Show her pics of the deer through the windshield scarfed off the net. Just think if it was an elk, moose, or cow, dear.

Next the insurance. Cheap insurance. What would it cost to replace just one insy binsy dent, quarter panel, bumper, hood, and etc. Use your imagination.

Come on, other suggestions, help a brother out! Oo.

Actually I am in luck. After taking out my front end by hitting a mailbox at about 5 MPH and doing 1500 in damage puts it all in perspective. A 500 deductible means I can turn it in to insurance which would be slitting my own throat for a measily $1000. Or I can spend the 1500 on a real bumper and not have to worry about somebody's mailbox or anything for that matter. Needless to say she is convinced that a after-market bumper is the way to go. The PROBLEM is she is not convinced that a cracked and smashed bumper that is shoved up into the passenger headlamp is grounds for spending 1500 in the first place.  Women!

I'm a pretty lucky guy. I always "ask" when I want to buy something, but in 34 years of marriage, my wife has never said no. Of course, we're not talking about buying a yacht or something. Well, that's not entirely true. I have bought 7 airplanes. The worst trade I ever made with my honey was when I bought one airplane I bought her a Bernina sewing machine.

She loves the truck and likes it a lot better than our 2001 GMC truck. She thought the bumper looked pretty cool and had no problems with me purchasing one. But, there was one, unforgettable, motivating factor. She was in the Accord (back seat, my beautiful daughter was in the front), when we hit the deer that did just shy of $5,000 to our new car. It just about came through the windshield and I thank God every day that my daughter wasn't hurt or killed.

A deer probably wouldn't come through the windshield of our trucks as they sit so high. I just couldn't stand the thought out of having my truck torn down for several weeks and worrying if they put it back together correctly if I were to happen to hit a deer.

WOmen, I told her about the T-REX suspension and it costs 4 grand, but the ride would be better, she says ok. Doesn't even think about it, just says ok. $1500 bumper and it's dagger eyes!women:rolleyes:

I'm not worried about deer, just the little ricers. Seems like most of you guys live in better places than FRESNO, CA.

There is an automatic $50. 00 discount from retail when you order both front and rear. I can't really tell you what the discount is on the group purchase would be buyt Dorian could probably come close. Won't know for sure until the cutoff date arrives.

There are possibly 3 generations of Dodge trucks and possibly the other makes on this group purchase. As I don't hear from everyone who's ordered, I can't do any computing on prices. I'm relying on Dorian's integrity to keep everything straight and on the up and up as far as prices go and have all the confidence in the world that he is a straight shooter and will do his best to give us all a good deal. We're at about a $230 discount based on the 3rd gen. front bumpers. I can't say how that translates into 2nd and 1st gen. Dodge trucks or the other makes but I feel confident that we will be happy with the results. And, I think everyone will be more than happy with the quality and workmanship on Buckstop's bumpers.

Sorry for bein' a Lil late here Woodster.

You are a askin ... . I am a respondin' ;)

5. Vendor Participation: Vendor input and commentary is welcomed in our Discussion Forums, however, direct solicitation is not. Vendors have proven to provide insightful conversation and commentary. Demonstrate professionalism in all post to the TDR Discussion Forums. The following will be strictly enforced:

5. 2. No direct solicitation pricing discussions are allowed on the TDR Discussion Forums. The discussion of prices is best left off-line in a private e-mail to those with interest as noted in the appropriate area of the Classified Advertisements. Why? Because many people who visit our Website do not want to pay to read solicitations and sales pitches in our technical Discussion Forums.

And welll TECHNICLY: Group Purchases should be in the Classafied / Promotions / Group purchases section

6. Vendor Promotions and Group Purchases. Commercial solicitation is not allowed in any Discussion Forum. They should be posted within the Classified Advertisements only.

Group Purchases: Any TDR member wishing to set up a group purchase, please have the vendor contact a member of the TDR staff directly. A group purchase must clearly state a start date and an end date. Its terms must be specific. It must include the company's name and company contact information (minimally a name and telephone number). Your name may be included in the Group Purchase as a coordination contact.

A Word of Caution: Remember the best deal is not always the cheapest deal. Considerations: If something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. A good strategy is to establish a relationship with a vendor(s) you trust. If you see a great vendor gotta-have-it, continue to work with the vendor that has previously earned your trust rather than chase after the Johnny-come-lately. Likely your established vendor of choice will bend to meet a competitive situation. Good suppliers and good relations are worth the courtesy of a phone call and your continued purchasing support. Good luck. It's a free-for-all jungle out there.

Okay... today is the last day.

The safety and cost/benefit analysis scheme hasn't moved her heart. Not to worry, I thought of a couple more suggestions for CFast and others involved in serious negotiatioins with the wife over pimping the CTD versus familial needs.

Bob touched on a great suggestion. ASK for a airplane. Then negotiate down to a mere bumper. :p

Tax "refund" (yeh, right) time is just around the corner. This means its spending spree time. Help get the economy booming again. Just doing our part, hon. :)

Advanced __________ gift. fill in the blank with birthday, fathers day, Christmas, or whatever will seal the deal. Promise never to ask for anything ever again.

Caution: pleading, whimpering, begging, pouting or groveling will not be tolerated and could result in being barred from TDR.

Okay, I'm in. Phoned in my order. Current savings for front and rear is over $300, which covers shipping to me in PA.

Oh well. I look at as an investment for the life of the vehicle which should serve me well for a long time.

Oh, and I find it's easier to ask the wife for forgiveness rather than permission. :D

Well I used the tax refund line, no deal:(

used the "what if we hit a deer?" line, no deal, "no deer here dear"

I DO NOT beg or grovel ever, so that didn't happen.

I brought up the baby, she's 3 mos. My wife said she wished the truck rode better. I mentioned the T-Rex suspesion, and how i've been looking into that, she says ok. WOOHOO:D! So i give up the bumper ( for now), and get a T-REX. Sounds ok to me. I'll have to sell my boat for the bumper, but that's ok. Thanks for all the advice guys. oh yeah, i tried the plane to a bumper, she saw right through that. :)

I live here in Portland and can just go over and pick it up - I assume if you show them the TDR mtl, they'll give you the price? BTW - I'm going to install a hydraulic winch - what's the difference in the Industrial Winch Bumper vs the std one???

I don't know what Dorian will do if you order after the deadline of Jan. 26th. I guess I'd call and ask if you can still get in on the discount.
