Well guys and galls. This will be my last automatic transmission EVER. The 47RE has got my goat. I must admit my truck does has 302k on it. Most of it highway miles with no towing. It is a 98. 5 with an EZ and 275's. At 286K I rebuilt the trany with Suncoast up grades. At 298K the splines on the output shaft (trany) and the input shaft on the Transfer Case sheared/rounded off. Easter Sunday the truck lost trany power and had to be towed again. It was shifting fine but it just started slowly losing power to the wheels. There are very fine brass specks in the fluid. The fluid level was good and serviced just 900 miles before. Now I have to determine what the problem is. If I think it is the Torque Converter they want me to mail it back to have it cut open. If they determine it is not the Torque Converter I have to pay $300 for the reflash. I need my truck for work and can't wait a week or two for shipping it back and forth. Just a lesson to be learned for buying parts out of state and far away.

I believe the reflash is to clean and weld it back together. I don't think there is a test to determine what is wrong with a Torque Converter. :{

Bob,

What evidence should I expect to see?

All that I can see is very fine brass specks in the fluid and on the bottom of the pan. I have a double deep pan also.
