I finally made time and it is done. Fortunately it was only out about 1/8 inch. I was pushing my luck at 248,030 miles,but its done now. Along with valve adjustment & new gaskets, 3k gsk, 100 plate, new water pump , new radiator ,lower hose,and a thermostat. And 2 crank seals#@$%! . I feel much better about the truck now. Only down side is egt's are little higher and after a test drive(read flog session) looks like the injectors are weeping. Thanks TDR a wealth of info and thanks to the people that answered my questions.

are you sure it's the injectors and not the delivery barrels? there are o-rings in the barrels which will wear away in time and should be replaced... just happened on my truck in the past month.

Pretty sure cause it looks like its leaking just above the injector hex nut then running down the cyl head. Open to suggestions though.

No I screwed up the first one on the final hit to make sure it was seated against the depth tool $30. 00+ mistake. Then I had to make a 2 hr round trip to nearest Cummins shop that had one,so I bought the gearcase cover gasket while I was there instead of using silicone.

Nice job on the KDP. I became a fast learner about them when I bought one from THE DEALER with a cracked cover. Stupid I didn't buy the warrantee, too. And I bought it with only 115,000 miles on it, too.

Joe Donnelly hooked me up with his experience and expertise, though. Now, it's all nice and running great, and I have to sell it... :{
