See if you can find a shop with a road force balancer. This will show problems with the tire when its under load that a normal balancer wont pick up. We have one here that I have used to diagnose death wobble in quite a few Fords that came down to tires having an excessive road force measurement.

If that doesnt work try the track bar. Had a neighbor with the same problem, changed the track bar and the problem was gone. Note: the dealer had changed ball joints and shocks when they got the truck before they sold it. Truck had 86,000 miles when bought has over 93,000 now with the new track bar and no problems.

my truck developed the DW so I replaced all the tie rod ends and drag bars. Then installed a tough country dual steering stabalizer system and it solved my problem. Recently I can sense some wobble in it again and the Big O told me my upper and lower ball joints are shot at 86,500. They also said I needed new tires, when I bought the truck they put 4-plys on it and now it is showing up in my wear patterns and life of tires. Has anyone replaced ball joints on a 2003 4x4? I am about to try.

Ok guys. Had a 94 with DW. Changed everything under there. New tires would help then it would come back. Do a search on DW and find the one on alignment. Seams like it said to set the caster or camber to the max positive spec limit. What ever it said I did it years ago and haven't had it happen since. And believe me it was bad and I could almost get it to do it at will. Was so glad I found the alignment thread cuz nobody around here that I talked to had ever heard of it. Over 200,000 miles on it now.

Good luck. .

After reading over everyones' comments... I'll throw a kink into the BFG theories- DW with nitto and ball joints, up and low= shot at 54k miles. But I grant you, my setup isn't real conducive to long term preservation of factory parts. It seems Carli is the way to go for the replacements. Anyone have any tips on how to tighten up my steering and/or what might be the next part towards that? (Don't bother with saying to take the lift off and put smaller tires - not an option. )

Thanks guys,

"Darn Kid" these days... . ;)

One thing that I have found that is over looked especially when installing a 6" lift is the caster setting. Since a large lift usually adversley affects the pinion angle the installer cheat on setting the caster correctly to decrease the pinion angle. This has adverse affects on the steering and wear of front components.

I just read an article on the BD steering box. Test claims that this easy to install steering box brace will take care of the DW. For 30 min and $200 i'm tempted to try it out, even though I don't have DW yet. Doc
