53 foot trailer... which states/provinces will give me a hard time

What is pressure at propane tanks?

I live in the DFW area, when I travel in Texas I don't have a problem picking up a satellite. I've been to Utah, Colorado and New Mexico and have never been able to find one, meter or not. The way it usually works with me is if I set it up with a compass, it's usually dead on. If I don't hit it first try, I don't usually hit it at all. I'm using Dish One, any ideas??? :{

Your elevation needs to be adjusted as well. Generally your dish will be pointed lower as you travel north.

I have the Dishnet 500. I have the signal strength menu as well as using the zip codes. These numbers are not always correct. You think getting a signal is tough in Colorado or New Mexico try Oregon. I have a compass that I picked up at Camping World and I also use the signal strength screen on the set up page. If you have a signal strength screen, use it. Set your dish at the numbers that are on the set up screen then use the signal strength screen to fine tune it. Once you find it mark your dish with a perm. marker so the next time just line up your marks. I have three diff marks on my dish for different locations. Makes set up a breeze. I have found that the elevation numbers can be as much as 5 degrees off and the azimuth as much as 10 degrees, if you use the numbers the dish company gives you. Sometimes you have no choice but get it close then start sweeping the sky changing your elevation about 2 degrees at a time with each sweep. Also make sure there are trees directly above your dish and that you have a clear line of sight this will help, those pesky tree branches don't help.

Thanks for the info, I've done a lot of sweeping to no avail. I thought maybe there was a secret decoder ring I didn't have or something.
