Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Another failed thermostat fyi

Noticed on last trip pulling the 5th wheel that when I got into the Cummins pretty hard like a long grade that the temp. would go slightly above the 190 deg. mark so I suspected that the thermostat might be acting up. I removed it and the yoke on one side of the top was broken completely off. Just happened to have a spare since I had two new ones under the back seat since my first failure when the truck had less than 10,000 miles. bg

Mine is bad and the new one is on the shelf in the garage. On the real cold 13 deg mornings I do not even make it to temp in my 30 mile drive to work. I will replace it this weekend. Ken
