Had problems starting '95 CTD. Notice smoke coming from fuel heater area. Removed fuel heater, primed with fuel pump primer button. Started, no more problems so far. Have been following thread about the problems with these heaters. My question is, what to do with the wiring. What have the rest of you been doing. I also want to thank Howard for the help with my fuel filter relocation. Thanks again Howard. Would appreciate help on what to do with the wiring on fuel heater. TIA jps
 
Do I take wire of of base of prefilter with sreen or just leave it hang? Looks like some torq screws hold it to top part of base. Thanks for the reply Joe G. jps
 
Those wires should come off. They are for the temp sensor that usually fails and causes the heater to burn up.
 
Got it done, Joe G. Thanks for the help! # 15 torq for the screws on the sensor. Kinda a pain to get to, one screw twisted off. Not planning on using heater so guess it doen't hurt anything! jps
