HAHAHA Talk about dance around the question. I too would be too embarrased to say how much i paid for the transmission. That tells me it was a bunch plus a few. (I dont think this psychology crap is gonna make em talk) RRR I WANNA KNOW!!!!!

It's not that were dancing around the question. I'ts just that TDR usually frowns upon the providing of pricing on the discussion forum. I'm not a vendor - but If you want to know what I paid, Email or PM me. Others have and I've provided the pricing that I paid to Massdiesel & DTT. If you look on the DTT website, They do provide Pricing for all the items I installed. It's up to the installers to quote pricing

About 8 months ago i took a very hard line with my dealers and installers. When people are buying our products they are paying top dollar for products for their trucks. Eventhough we may be priced less than some of the others out there it is what i consider to be top dollar for quality parts.



I have been in this rat race , racket whatever you want to call it for over 20 years. Let me tell you guys something , parts dont mean a thing if the installer is an idiot. I realize that may not be a politically correct term but lets call a spade a spade.



If you go to one of my approved installers you had better get the same treatement you would get in my own personal shop and if you dont i want to hear about it. My guys have very specific rules they must play by. Everything is to be done my way, there are no exceptions. That is why we spend a lot of time training these guys one on one, we dont want a bunch of parts changers working on your trucks and representing our company.



They not only have to be able to install the parts properly but they have to be able to set up the clearances and understand how the transmission works. THey have to use special tooling we develop and adhere to set proceedures . The quality of the installer and how well he understands and sets up the transmission is one of the keys to the longivity of your transmission.



If all you are paying for is for a bunch of parts to be installed you are probably better off doing it yourself and save the money.



Many factors come in to play with the times it takes to do the job, all trucks are not the same, our installers are trained not to blaket quote as they have the capacity to examine the entire transmission while it is on the bench and make a determination based on the transmission in front of them. THis makes their job tougher when they are trying to estimate for customers over the phone without looking at the vehicle. Our guys can baseline but quoting exactly is not easy because of the way i want them to do the work.



For those of you that were wondering why we do not discuss pricing is because of the rules by the tdr and the reasons mentioned by me above, it is not because we have anything to hide.



While there are a lot of companies that may just do a tc and vb for you we have learned from the school of hard knocks that is not the way to go, especially with the power levels you guys are changing to after the upgrades.



Guys starting out with the eze and 275 injectors and within a couple of months i am reading they now have comps, dd2' and 3's ect. have taught us to address more when doing transmission upgrades.

I live in nothwest Iowa and have been wondering about DTT installing in this area. Around here most shops deal with a couple rebuilders out of Ft. Dodge,Iowa!! jps

My understanding of the rules are that only vendors can not post prices, the general consumer can for compareing prices.

Right, but if you caught all of what Bill Said; Everyone's Transmission is going to need different things based on How much wear and what type of power you're putting to the ground... So My Transmission work is not necessarily going to be the same cost as Kevin's or yours.



But if you call an installer he can give you a range (between $5. 00 and $7. 50 )

So you mean I will have to wait until my truck is up on the hoist and the transmission is laying on the bench before an approved installer will give me a price quote.



Exactly one of the reasons I choose not to go with DTT upgrades.

Whoa back up the wagon there. I am going next week and I have had a quote from the shop that is doing the work. There was no problem getting the quote, all you have to do is call the shop. Remember these guys are independent shops and each has a different flat rate for a job. As said before if you go to Bills web site you will get exact prices for the parts

If there needs to be fine tuneing after the install or even dureing the installation was that included in the price quote and did you get it in writeing.

No but he quoted me a price for the valve body he installed 6 months ago and came in under the price he quoted. If he does charge more than he quoted I would be very surprised.

ronesram I'm sure that an Installer can give you a price to replace everything for ya if you wanted... . But I don't want to pay for parts I don't need, maybe that's just me. I don't work for DTT or any other Transmission shop and who you buy your parts from is your choice, and I could give two I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER$ who you chose, don't try to drag me into your crusade... . If You don't like DTT then don't give them your money... .

I think you are missing the point. First of all, while the rule regarding posting prices is under the vendor participation section, it is ambiguous as to whether it specifically applies to vendors only, or to everyone in general. You go ahead and post all the prices you want. These guys choose not to post and that's their choice. If you really want to know a price, the phone is right there. If you can't afford a call, you probably won't pay for the upgrade. A PM costs even less than that, haven't done it? I'm not surprised.



Second, Bill Kondolay stuck pretty closely to the

informative site guideline and I got a pretty good idea of what he was trying to say. If I were buying a DTT upgrade tomorrow, and I had your concern, I'd talk with the installer and ask him, "Are you really going to take my transmission apart and then give me a price?", long before he ever started.



I'll go way out on a limb, and guess that you could probably describe your needs, have the installer drive your truck, and get a pretty accurate estimate and that in no way, would anyone go so far as take your transmission apart, then tell you the cost.



I have seen massdiesel work on transmissions in person. He shows amazing dedication and works well and above the call to get the job done right. You won't find a better mechanic anywhere.



Bottom line: if you're interested in a transmission upgrade, here's a bunch of guys on this thread that couldn't be happier with the DTT install done by massdiesel. If you really don't like the deal, don't buy one, no one is making you buy.

When someone comes on here and gives rave reviews on somthing as important as a transmission upgrade, some of us get excited with you and for a brief second we want the same thing. Most of the guys are reluctant to post a price because, in their view, it is against the guidelines to do so. Repeated offers to respond to Private Messages were made. Guidelines were sited. Interpret those guidelines any way you like and I'll do the same



There's no need to say, "None of your business. " In fact, we'll tell you. Just ask!
