I'm having trouble selecting injectors.

I have a 99 with a few small mods: gauges, BHAF, FASS, 4" exhaust, and Quadzilla XZT+. I replaced the VP about 2 yrs ago, and it is currently in the shop getting a South Bend OFE clutch installed (its too cold, I don't have a sturdy enough transmission jack, and I'm too old and lazy to drop that beast of a transmission/transfer case myself).

It has a stock turbo and it won't get upgraded until something goes wrong with it.

Current towing is limited and mostly in NE (What's a mountain?), although there may be a 5th wheel TT in the not too distant future.

I'm trying to decide between the inexpensive RV injectors and any of the multitude of others. F1 Mach 1 or 1. 6, DDP Stage 2, the 75 or 85hp Industrial Injection injectors, or others?

I guess I'm looking for the most power with the least smoke using a stock turbo. Price is not really a factor, but if any of the others don't offer much of an improvement over the RVs, I don't see a reason to spend the extra.

Any suggestions/input is appreciated.

It would be nice if someone had done a good comparison of the various injectors. Same vehicle, same dyno, done in a controlled conditions and unbiased results. Seems like the gas 'hot rod' magazines do it all the time. If it has been done, maybe someone will post it.

I have the 275RV injectors and have had no complaints. They don't smoke, I wasn't aware of much power increase until I hit the first hill pulling a trailer and realized I was having no problem keeping my speed up. I want to upgrade to a new turbo soon, and will likely want to upgrade the injectors after that.

i put mach 4s in my 01 ..... truck ran smoother and smoked less than the 100 hp injectors i had in it most of the time u get what u pay for ..... i realize your not looking to make a ton of power ,guess this is my vote for the mach 1. 6

Well, one vote for RV as good, but not a huge improvement, and one vote for Machs in general.

To try a different tack, are there any that should be avoided due to product quality, exaggerated claims, customer service, etc?

I would gladly accept any PMs on bad experiences in order to keep the thread civil.

i have 50hp sticks in my truck and really like them. they are a very nice and noticable power increase especially towing. i considered going with the rv units but i decided on spending a little extra for 10-20 extra horses. towing wise egt's rarely get over 1100 and most of the time stay below 1000. never see any smoke unless the edge is turned up. we bought the injectors from schield because of there good reputation and my brother has dealt with them before with other parts and always gotten along good. now here is my personal opinion on injectors, i think they are a very worth while investment and if done over i would have bought them before i bought the edge. i stayed on the low hp side because i too want to keep running the stock turbo, and when towing i want to come up a hill pulling and not worried about egt's getting hot or having to back off the go pedal.

I'll chime in with a vote for DDP. I have run two sets of their injectors and they deliver what they promise. Both times I dyno'd my truck after install and they performed as promised. I know Lenny (DDP's owner and injector guru) personally, he is a stand up guy!

Check out their guarantee on their website, you as the customer are covered!

I won't even consider running any injectors that are not DDP's.

I had 80hp Jammers and I wouldn't do it again. With my Edge box, I simply ran out of turbo... and they hurt my towing mileage. I got more power at the lower Edge settings, but on the higher settings I mostly got more smoke and heat. Based that experience, I would be conservative on my injector choice. If I were to do it again, it would be RV275s for buget or 40hp DDPs if I could swing the coin. Most of my buddies are using 50hp DDPs on their 3rd gens and have had great results.
