I did the Skyjacker D25 levelling springs week before last in the evenings after work. I wanted to ride on them a bit before posting. Along with the springs I installed a DT track bar and new Bilsteins at all four corners. Bilstein has just come out with a new shock for 8800 GVWR Rams with 1 to 3 inches of lift, it is a 5100 series shock. I went with this shock for the front and the standard 2500 series shock on the rear.
After two weeks and about 1000 miles over different road surfaces I like this mod a good deal. My steering had grown increasingly bad. The shocks were worn out and the track bar had play at the frame end. The steering is better now than ever. The ride is better than ever. I do believe my steering gear bearing could benefit from adjustment, but the front end is much improved. All this and anybody that rides along comments on the height of the door sill, can't beat that!
For the rookies out there who will see this in a search some day... take it from a true amateur: Do yourself a favor and do your homework. I spent a good deal of time up front doing searches, PMs, surfing other Ram sites, and laying under there just checking things out and I think it saved me a good bit of time. For all the upgrades it probably took me about 10 to 12 hours (and thats plenty slow). I will say that I was a bit freaked out doing that first spring. Wow, talk about droop. If anybody wants a more step-by-step of how I did mine, PM me. Be careful with those tie rod ends! For those that answered my questions earlier, thanks for the help, everything worked out nicely.
