Another Lift Pump Question

Engine doesn't fall into the serial number w/lift pump problems. But recently (sporadically) the lift pump will make no noise then other times it will I've been wondering if it's just me or not so I started paying close attention, turn on accy make sure fan and radio are off, then standing with door open turn on key and listen. Example: This morning it didn't make any noise. Just read the previous post titled "Is my lift pump dead" and went out to check it buzzed upon turning on the key as usual? Any ideas? I'm going to order a test gauge from the TDR member who's making them up and check pressures.

If you really want to kick the lift pump on, bump the starter... just turning the key on on mine won't always turn it on... (or so it seems reading the pressure)... , but bump the starter, and the lift pump will cycle for a while and the pressure will jump right up to over 15psi
