Let it SNOW

An American Soldier is a POW in Afganistan!

Sorry for the loss.

As a firefighter/emt, we get numb to what we see and experience. However, when the ones we love are suddenly taken, we become very brittle.

Here in Ca, our wildland firefighters from CalFire have lost several over the last few years from heli crashes and bomber plane incidents. One of those was a local bomber and all of us are still very emotional today.

Thank you for sharing and don't be afraid talk about it.

FG, Condolences for your fallen brothers.

I worry about this scenario daily. My eldest son works for one of the national air ambulance companies as a trauma specialist and is on duty (I think) about 100 hours per month. Lord knows if I was the victim lying on the highway or in the mountains I would want him at my side, but I’m full aware of the risks involved with rotorcraft platforms and I wish he would work in a hospital.

JH,

Thanks for the offer. It is a bitter pill to swallow, yet sadly becoming more frequent as HEMS programs pop up throughout the country.

BD,

This type of work is the most stressful for the loved ones. All that I can offer is that, the job itself, is the most fulfilling job I have ever had. You are the "best of the best" and at the sharpest you will ever be. Say prayers for your boy, yet know that he is as good as they get and probably wouldn't want it any other way.
