Just thought I'd introduce myself. I've always done my homework a bit early which is my reason for joining all of you good folks at this point in time.

I'm planning on purchasing my Dodge 2500 in 2003 or 2004. This is mainly due to the fact that I wouldn't have the finances available until that time.

I really don't plan to carry or tow any thing. She'll be a daily driver and my main concern will be to maximize the fuel economy. I just wanted a vehicle that can be used for what ever situation I might be faced with in the future. I believe the Dodge Cummins will fit the bill!

When I was in the service, I worked on the Marine Cummins that were left overs form WWII. That's when I learned of the legendary Cummins reputation for durability and longevity. This engine's reputation, coupled with my relentless tinkering and servicing, will probably make this the last new vehicle I'll ever own.

Sorry for my first post being so long winded. I'll be reading all of your questions and answers as time passes, re-eductaing myself on this new Cummins.

If any of you have suggestions on how to increase the mpg, please advise.

Thanks in advance.

glad to see you made it.

one question that is burning in my mind, with the weather you are to having this week will 4x4 be on the window sticker?

Welcome RMRC!! There are alot of variations to getting a truck. If your main concern is fuel milage then you might want to get the auto cause it has a better overdrive ratio than the stick, 0. 69to1 vs 0. 73to1. It will pull okay under say 8or9 thousand pounds. It will pull more but thats where they seem happiest. Lots to learn here on this site so I'll get out of the way and let the experts at it #ad

She'll definitely be a 4X4

She'll also be an automatic. I plan to get the SLT with just about every option on the list except leather seats. Like I said, this truck will more than likely be my last, so I want her loaded.

Pete,

I have to admit, I liked the idea of heated seats. It just seemed that the leather seats weren't as comfortable as the cloth. Let's see if the seats change with the new design when the 1500 shows up this summer. That will give me a preview of what my 2500 will be like!
