Have had my newly installed remanned NV4500 in for about 3k miles (again) and now when shifting quickly (not racing, just driving on the street) I already have a ZIP again like I had with the old NV4500.
I didn't remove or install the trans but the previous trans was replaced under warranty and I had a reputable shop do the swap (again). When they sent it back one of the guys at noted that the input shaft was worn slightly, indicating that the pilot bearing was rubbing on the input shaft- causing the sychros to wear prematurely because this was nearly the same as shifting without the clutch.
A new pilot bearing was installed in the flywheel when they put the SECOND transmission in the truck. Truck shifted fine, but now the ZIP in third is back!
This is pathetic, I don't know what the reman company will say, but 2 3rd gear synchros in less than 10k miles is BS! This isn't a race truck, just my tow rig for pete's sake, I could see if I was beating it, but I'm not. . #@$%!
