Jim,
It is a O-ring that needs replacing, its on the adapter between the vacuum and steering pumps (Adapter attaches to steering pump and slides into vacuum pump. You will also need the gasket that goes on the end of vacuum pump that attaches to engine.
I would think that NAPA would carry the O-ring and gasket or any decent parts store. Mite have to go to Dodge. I will run a few phrases thru search see if I can find the info you are looking for.

Theres a seal and a o-ring in that adaptor that has to be changed. They are both metric. They can be changed without taking the vac. pump off the motor but you must remove the power-steering pump.
DC & Cummins only sell that part with the vac. pump as an assembly, BIG bucks.
I buy the seals & o-rings twenty at a time.

Jim,
Found a few threads. How to get there?

Not a whole lot of info and no mention of NAPA being the place to get them.

CPFF, The seal is not mentioned or in diagram in brake section of shop manual but found a diagram in steering section of same manual with reference to seal. It states to take care not to damage seal in vaccum pump. But does not mention O-ring on adapter in this section. (Actually it does not even attempt to recognize adapter. )

Manual in both sections state to take off the whole assembly then seperate vacuum/steering pump. It is probably easier to rotate the pumps so the drive coupling in adapter matches up with the pumps drive tangs/dogs. But looks possible to take steering pump off byself, just mite be harder to get on again.

Jim:
A Dodge mech. told me to clean around the O ring real well, make sure it is totally dry and use the black silicone gasket maker on it . Let it set up a little and put it back together. No more leaks. Mine has been leaking but it turned out to be the fitting under the pump.
Good luck on yours.
Preston

CPFF... could you give any size or measurements of the o-ring. . I am thinking about getting into it on sunday..... but am dreading the thought of getting all apart and not having the right parts. . (been there done that!) so anyway. . guess I'll see. Jim

JIM. S The size of the seal is 28x38x7 mm. The brand I use is National - Federal Mogul. The 0-ring is mm 55x59x2.

You may be able to get them from a industrial hydraulics supplier, there usually not easy to find. Good luck & hope this helps. CPFF

CPPF Could you list the part number of the seal and o-ring or can I just go to the parts house with the sizes that you gave?

Casey, any parts house worth it's salt will be able to get you the seal with the dimensions only. In fact you will find that many times the part number contains the dimensions.
