Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Another One Bites the Dust

Well... . it has finally happened. . the VP 44 in my wife's 2k died yesterday! It wasnt one of those slow deaths either. She pulled out of the driveway at church and the truck jiust shut off! There were 6 codes in the computer but all of them pointing toward sensors on the transmission. . But my buddy had his guys hook the truck up to a scanner... and guess what he found... 0216 code. They cleared all the codes and tried to start it again... and up jumped the 0216 code. . Even with great fuel pressure from the FASS system... it still died. . Maybe its time to get the parts together to build her a 12v for that truck

Oh well. . I figured that it would happen soon or later. .

I feel your pain. I am picking up my truck today, after the having the VP44 replaced. Mine was on the slow death program, and did not show a 216 code. The symptoms were white smoke, rough idle, stalling at lights, hesitation, but no code.

You know what really sucks... there was no warning. She started the truck and drove maybe 200 yards and it just died. The noise that she heard was the turbo huff'd because she was gaining speed when it died...

When mine let go, I too was under throttle and it just stoped with a hugh shudder.

Sorry to here that Rick, sounds similar to my Automate RV went to pull it out the other day to go to the Diesel pulls this weekend in LA and it is broken as usual. Broken u bolt and a bad axle to go with it.

Sorry to hear about that if it makes you feel any better mine is on the slow boat to china of failing so far all I got is hard starting no dead pedal or that stuff yet but I'am sure it wont take long.
