Ok, here is an idea I was toying with. I have always wanted to put a lift on my truck. I can afford the lift right now, but rims and tires is a whole 'nother story.

If I get a 4" suspesion lift (springs in the front, and blocks in the back), is there any way I can lower it?

Like, could I bring it down to 3" or 2" by cutting down the blocks over the axles?

The back is not big deal, just a matter of switching out lift blocks, but can you trim down that little block that goes over the front axle to lower the front end???

I think your alittle screewed up? Do you want to lift your truck or not? If you can not afford to do it right now, then just wait till you can. If you only want 2-3 " lift only get that. Good luck

No, I'm not screwed up.

I was wondering if I could get the 4" lift now, but shorten it by means of shorter blocks on the front so it looks OK with my current tires, then I could put the original blocks back on when I get the proper tires.

All I want to know is if it possible, and safe.

Take it easy man. You need to read his post again. He didn't say he couldn't afford it. We are here to have fun and help each other, not act like that.

I don't think you have any type of blocks in the front. Blocks are unsafe in the front. If the kit you buy has new front springs, there won't really be any way to not lift the truck the full amount. You could take a leaf out of the spring, but that will kill the weight carrying capacity and will stress the remaining leaves. Can't really go with a shackle any shorter than you already have (assuming it's stock).

Well... I don't have my truck with me... but I swear there was a small block that fit over top of the axle that had a flat top that the springs sat on.

Maybe I'm wrong. Thanks.

Hi CB_Parker there is a spring perch on the one side of the axle tube it looks like a block but it is welded on the axle tube. it is there to raise the spring perch to match the other side on the carrier (pumpkin) hope this makes sense

Oh, ok. That makes sense. I don't have my truck with me, I'm in college... so I can't look at everything for myself when I have an idea.

Thanks.

I don't think it will look too bad with a 4" lift and stock tires and wheels, kinda like the old Ford HiBoys... .
