TEXAS CATTLE FEEDERS & MC DONALD'S

The original message is from the Texas Cattle Feeders Association.

American cattle producers are very passionate about this.

McDonald's claims that there is not enough beef in the USA to support their restaurants. Well, we know that is not so.

Our opinion is they are looking to save money at our expense. The sad thing of it is that the people of the USA are the ones who made McDonald's successful in the first place, but we are not good enough to provide beef.

We personally are no longer eating at McDonalds, which I am sure does not make an impact, but if we pass this around maybe there will be an impact felt.

Please pass it on

Just to add a note, all Americans that sell cows at a livestock

auction barn had to sign a paper stating that we do NOT EVER feed our cows any part of another cow. South Americans are not required to do this as of yet.

McDonald's has announced that they are going to start importing much of their beef from South America. The problem is that South Americans aren't under the same regulations as American beef producers, and the regulations they have are loosely controlled.

They can spray numerous pesticides on their pastures that have been banned here at home because of residues found in the beef. They can also use various hormones and growth regulators that we can't.

The American public needs to be aware of this problem and that

they may be putting themselves at risk from now on by eating at good old McDonald's.

American ranchers raise the highest quality beef in the world and this is what Americans deserve to eat. Not beef from countries where quality is loosely controlled.

Therefore, I am proposing a boycott of McDonald's until they see the light.

I'm sorry but everything is not always about the bottom line, and when it comes to jeopardizing my family's health, that is where I draw the line.

Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes

sense to you, please pass this message on.

I won't eat there anymore either. It's been over 10 years since I ate at McDonalds, I figure what the heck, I just won't go there again. I wonder if they will miss me :)

More food for thought........

... ... ... . back when slick willie signed NAFTA into effect, there were supposed to be 14,000 (number may have varied, my memory is not always that good) head of mexican cattle being held ten miles south of the Texas border. When NAFTA went into effect, McDonalds bought 12,000 of them for $100 per head. That caused me to give up the Big Mac back then.

Todd (small cattle producer, who just gave away a load of calves for way less than what they are worth!!!)

American beef it's whats for supper

I dont eat there any more either since my younger days however the first time I ever ate at McDonalds I ate 15 big macs on a dare, I think it took 3 Cokes to wash it down, I bet I could do 16 if the money was right :eek: I AM A PIG... ... ... ... think of that colesterol:{

Remember that commercial where the showed the amount of grease in one of those things. I think I can safely say I have a overly lubed chassis... ... ... Kevin

I stopped eating there 6 years ago.

I figured that I needed to stop eating at fast food or stop drinking beer to make it easier to watch my weight.

It wasn't even a choice. :--)

I hate that place anyways

the only thing i have purchased from there in the last few years is their ice cream sundays. . they have the 2 for $2 deal on right now...

... Oh Nick, you are not gonna like this one...

McDonalds is just plain gross. I don't eat there for numerous reasons, I will share just this one:

Back when I was in the 7th grade my class took a field trip to the natural history museum in Denver, and on the way back to school we stopped at a McDonalds to eat. Some teacher had the bright idea to ask the manager for a tour of the kitchen ... When we looked at the ice cream/shake machine, they opened the top and it was full of maggots. Thats right, I said maggots. I just about vomited, and some girls that were eating shakes at the time did.

Only good solid beef from a good solid beef store for me:D!!

I don't eat there anyway, but I won't be taking my daughter by there for anymore happy meals,,,,,I usually frequent the good 'ol texas born establisment of Whataburger for my burgers... . :D

Research has shown that "Mad cow" disease comes from cows being fed ground up bones and parts of other cows - a form of canabalism.

The last time I ate at McDonalds a freind and I had to hold down a guy that was having an epilectic seizure on his way into McDonalds until the EMTs got there. That was close to 20 years ago - I just don't like the place. :(

*WARNING* not for the squemish...

I know some farmers that sell livestock at the auction.

He told me that Mc D's buys all the sick cows (puss sacks hanging off of them, etc) ever since I heard that I dont to mickey D's.

Once upon a time I knew a vet technician who had a Doberman that was tested and determined, by an internist, to be allergic to horsemeat. Could eat chicken, lamb, beef, etc. Well, he got into a McD's burger once, guess what happened?? Conclusions: make your own!!!;)

I met a guy once whose job was traveling the country taste testing fries for Mcd's. He told me they take it even further than that to insure a consistent taste, they contract with the potato growers and tell them exactly how they want the spuds grown, harvested etc. They also pay top dollar.

I KNOW a truck driver who drives cattle to the auction barn. He has to wait and haul any unsold cows back, consequently he attends a lot of auctions. He told me that the Clown pays the least of anyone per pound, in fact, Purina pays more. The Clown will buy sick cows and rail beef, anything they can. He said he would go hungry before eating Clown food. For the record, he said that Whataburger pays the most per pound (best cows) of any buyer.

No Clown for me.

Try reading fact instead of fiction

Why do people so blindly believe everything they read on the internet. This story screamed "HOAX" to me. I checked at the US Dept of Energy's Computer Incident Advisory Capability site(http://ciac.llnl.gov/ciac/CIACHome.html), and sure enough it is. Everyone should bookmark this site to verify all the nonsense stories that spread across the web. The site has up to date info on viruses, hoaxes, urban legends, chainletters, etc. Click on the Hoaxbusters link.

Read specifically what they say about McDonalds at http://hoaxbusters.ciac.org/HBUrbanMyths.shtml#mcdonaldsbeef

also see http://hoaxinfo.com/mcbeef.htm and click on the link at the very bottom of the page "US Cattlemen Angry Over Beef Imports By McDonald's" for an in-depth explanation of what McDonalds is doing and why.

One thing you may learn from reading the above is that McDonalds is the single largest buyer of US beef. Boycott them and what does THAT do to beef prices? Ever heard of shooting oneself in the foot?

I did check truthorfiction.com and urban legends reference before I posted it. They did not have anything about it. Good for you!

McDonald's food still sucks. Most people that know good beef don't eat there to begin with.

I don't like any of their "food" at all - their burgers have absolutely no taste at all and I've found other places that have better fries. I don't remember the last time I ate anything at Micky D's.
