I have a RE-0880 with the foam sleve and after running my RAM up and down a 3mile dusty road all summer (6500 miles on oil), I sent my oil into Blackstone for anaylsis. Here is what they said:

"The oil, Shell's Rotella T 15W/40, was not contaminated with anything harmful. Air and oil filtration are normal. This oil could have been run longer. "

So if any of you don't trust a K&N, here is more proof to change that paper thing and pump some air to that cummins.

:D

K&N

I have used K&N filters for over 10 years and have had "0" problems. I have seen the greatest improvement when I put one in my '95 Cummins. I can not see buying any paper filters over and over and over  . Sam

I just got back a oil anaylsys which showed zero silicon after 6,000 miles of local driving in dusty conditions using Rotella and a K&N.

There are guys on this forum who change their oil every 2,500 miles and clean and oil their K&N filters every oil change. I suspect that the guys with problems fit into this group and are using to much filter oil and not enough seal grease. These filters seem to work best if you don't screw with them and let them do their work. Everyone knows that the seal on the K&N is critical and must be greased properly.
