Attempted Speedo fix for 315's gone awry

Ditto on the 50 psi. The front needs at least 50 to wear right, but when empty, 35 is enough in the back. I've loaded quite a bit of lumber in the back when the tires were at 35psi and I didn't feel like I was stressing the tires at slow speeds.

I know what the literature says, but how do the Nitto's compare height-wise to the 315 BFGs in reality? My 315s measure on the truck right at 33" at 50lbs. I like the idea of running the Nittos, but with these KORE coils, I don't want them to get swallowed by the wheel wells. Anyone got a pic of the Nittos with the KORE coils up front?

KORE with Nittos

See my 'readers rigs' photos. All pics are of truck with the KORE system/Nitto combination.

Are the Nittos rated load range E? It seems that I read in another post a while back that they were, but I have only seen load range D on different tire websites.

<<Load E?>> I'm not sure. Website does not disclose. They are rated at 3,600lbs@65psi, which is consistent with a load E rated tire though.

CSilkowski that is great information. At 3600 lbs rating I am leaning toward that tire. Can you tell me what you spent on install & balance? In my area finding a tire dealer selling Nittos may not be easy.

Vaughn - I bought mine at Discount Tires/America's Tire Warehouse. I believe the closest to you would be Portland or Tacoma area. I paid about $200 each for everything, but that was for the 17". 16" should be less. Chris

Thanks. It appears to be a slight difference between the two tires. I think it is ever so slight though. I may have found my next set of tires. Do you get any rubbing at full lock under heavy articulation? My 315s rub a little.

Actually I'm getting the same size as you (I have a set of 3rd Gen wheels coming). Thanks for the info. I called around today and the tire shops I talked to insist the weight rating is 3195 lbs. but I didn't actually talk to Nitto.

Les Schwab quoted me a pretty good price, only a little over $800, if I order through them (even though they don't carry Nitto). They will balance on their Hunter road force equipment and back them with their road hazard warranty to boot. But the guy was also sorta trying to talk me into their Wild Country which I'm not that interested in (I hear they wear out pretty fast).

Thanks again CSilkowski. Nice pics in your gallery. Did you see any drop in MPG?

Vaughn

No rubbing

I have not had any rubbing issues in either forward or reverse at full lock, even with the thick rubber mud flaps up front, which add about 1/2 to the wheel wells. I think it would be tight though with chains and might rip off the front flaps.

I just went out to the garage and checked the sidewall to verify. I was off a bit, it says 3,415 lbs. It also says load range D, which I found surprising.

Mileage dropped about . 5 - 1 mpg, but I haven't recalibrated by speedo yet either.

I think you will be happy with them.

Chris

I wanna say they are an 8ply tire. Also at full lock up I dont get any rubbing. Thats also to include the molded mudflaps. I purchased mine through a local dealer here for 740 thats with tax mounting and balancing. They also had them at www.discounttiredirect.com for 153 a tire. Then shipping was 100 buck to Missouri. By going to the dealer I think I saved 7 bucks.

I am less concerned about the load range versus the actual weight rating. I think Load Range dictates how many ply the tire is (but who knows?).

3415 is great, I would feel better about that than 3195. Thanks again CSilkowski.

My truck came stock with the 265 Rugged Trail TA tires... . they're E rated, reasonably aggressive tred (compated to most OEM Tires), dont look like a street tire and if you look at the BFG Page, they compare favorabley with the All Terain TA...

Tread Wet Quiet Handling Winter Mud

Wear Traction Ride Traction Traction

All-Terrain TA 7 9 7 8 10 9

Rugged Trail TA 8 8 8 9 8 8

I've had good success with the All Terrain TA in the past, so I would definately recommend it if you are looking for a good combo tire that will get some offroad use... I have however been very inpressed with the Rugged Trails so far... . I'm a newbie... . do 285s fit the 4x4's without rubbing?
