Competition Anyone have May Madness Results??

Off Roading Got The new Yamaha Rhino (pics)

OK I did a lot of searching tonite and found that I need traction bars before I pull this summer. Also to cure my axle wrap. I watched the driveshaft move while taking off next to buildings with shiny glass(I love those kind). Anyways. It hops quite a bit.

Now the question is:

Do I go with LsFarms tractions bars or the 4-link from EEP? Whats the ups and down on both? I have yet to get prices. That will come in the morning, which will be a deciding factor also. But wonder what will work the best for what I need. Its a 98 12v 5sp SB QC that gets used for daily driving, some towing a soon to be a pull here or there. Maybe more if I like it.

I have read nothing but good about the ones from LsFarm. But I havent read much about the EEP 4-link. Anyone have experience with it?

Thanks.

I don't know for sure what the price is on the EEP setup but I know who makes them for EEP and he does a superb job that is 2nd to none.

They are as tough as it gets!!

With the EEP set you are good up into the 1500hp area and they work great.

The ones that LsFarm and DieselDarryl manufacture are also very nice if you are looking for a bolt on set good into the 650hp area of pulling.

A 4 link is usually superior, but the 2 link is lighter and will let you probably hang another 100 lbs up front.

Money wise the EEP set is probably closer to the $1000 mark (I dont know for sure though) and the DieselDarryl or LsFarm set is in the $5-600 area.

If it were my truck it would be a tough choice since one set is so easy to install and works great and the other set allows for alot of growing without needing to upgrade ever.

Craig Severson runs the bolt on set from Diesle Darryl and his truck is one of the top SuperStreet/ProStock pullers around.

OK I called them both and EEP's are $720 and LsFarms are $500. I think the LsFarms ones woul dbe enough for me for now, but the EEP ones look awesome would never have to be upgraded.

I have run the Diesel Darryl bars on my truck for 2 full seasons with no problems and I know Darryl him self has pulled with much more than 650hp and never had any problems. I know Lsfarm has a vary simular set not sure what kind of testing he has done.

Are the ladder bars for $720 the same ones pictured on their website? I don't want to offend anyone, but the heim joints are about $20 a pair at any TSC or Rural King store. If they work well, that's what counts I guess.

Andy

I dont think you are offending anyone.

Some people dont have the time or the equipment to fabricate things like traction bars so paying a little for a nice set is not out of line in my opinion even if they are using $20 a set heims.

well I think that I am going to go with the LsFarms set. They seem to fit the bill of what I need. I will post up when I get them on.

Thanks.

Dsul-$20 won't come close to buying a good heim joint. What you are talking about from TSC will work I have built a bunch of bars out of top links. I don't know what EEP uses, but I would guess them to be quality joints.

What do traction bars actually do to provide more traction? I have read they help w/wheel hop, so that would help with traction. But in my case, a 2wd, I have to launch w/very low boost. Otherwise, I will just smoke the tires. Do traction bars help with this? I don't have any wheel hop issues.

JDailey,

I was going by the picture they show on their website under the category "ladder bars". Take a peek at their website, the pic shows extended 3rd link heims. If the pic is outdated, I apologize. If it's not outdated, I'm positive they are 3rd link heims, I've worn many of them out 0n bushhog tractors on our farm.

BTW, I'm not saying there is anything wrong with TSC's heim joints. I'm only saying that if EEP is using these and charging $700+ for a set I'm going to start selling them.

Dsul-I don't know what they use. I don't ever deal with EEP. I would just assume that if they are selling quality bars, they would use quality joints. I could be wrong. I use high quality heim joints alot and they are not cheap. That was my point.

i just bought a set of EEP's 2 weeks ago, i don't know what kind of heim joints they use, i'll take a picture and post it. they are huge and look to be very good quality. the only down side is that you have to weld the bracket to your frame, wich is why they are still sitting in my garage since you have to drop the tank and remove the brake lines

You are correct!!

A certain handsome :D devil in Fortuna builds a great set but you would  when he told you how much the heims are that he uses. You want quality... ... you pay for it!

Thank You... ... . Very good point and one I have a hard time getting across.

Sorry to jump in on your thread here, but who is Diesel Darryl or what is his website? I need a set of traction bars for my truck badly. I looked at the EEP setup but I just don't need that much bar and can't afford the ground clearance loss. I would really rather start with a kit and make it work for mine than create completely from scratch. Thanks.

I would try giving him a call if you don't have any luck with the PM. Darryl doesn't spend to much time on the TDR. I just put a set of his bars on my 98. Excellent quality.
