Competition Gearing up for Vegas Diesel Nationals

"I think" choosing a Dave Goerend's parts in my transmission has been the best move I made. I have broken the front drive shaft twice, spider gears in the D80, twisted the rear shaft. One of our other trucks broke the pinion yoke in half. Do transmission carnage yet!!! I will rephrase my first two words "I know"

:-laf

Thanks!

Did you realy broke all these things and your transmission is "just" a TC and VB?

GO WITH AN ALLISON. I built mine and have been running it for about 30,000 miles now with no problems. I have also sled pulled with it. You don't have to have harsh shifts to have a good tight transmission. I am running at or near 700hp and I can't get the transmission to slip. I see your not far away, so come on over and take a ride!!! hahaha

LMAO

I´m on my way..... ;)

I´ve thought about Allison, but is it a difficult swap? And where to buy one?

I have seen Suncoast have an Allison for Dodgeapplication, but no price and further info. .

Are there billet shafts for Allison yet?

so you will be pushing over 800hp..... you will need all of the best parts you can find... billet shafts billet 3rd gear drum, triple disc. converter etc. ... . just make sure you tell who ever builds it what you are doing with it and you will be running over 800hp and i am sure they will build 1 bad A*S trans

Well, I´m not going for 800 from stock, but I have some big sticks and a "beatbox" on the way over the sea, so I have almost all the fuel I need for a while. . and a good huffer rests in my livingroom... .

But to enjoy all the things, I need a better transmission. .

And I´m only going for it once... cause I´ve already done it once before... :{

So thats why I want it HD stuff... .

OK now were talking!

Thanks alot guys! Keepit coming, the more the better...

I will suggest either an Allison coversion(if your budget allows)

Or an HTS luken has made numerous passes at 26PSI 4X4 Launch and put 20K on his without a problem

I have an ATS and only wish I had went one of the other two routes mentioned above

Read the first post before you post please...

Firsthand experience ONLY and no "I think" posts.

After reading a whole lotta trannythreads I know what the major brands are, but need to have some real facts.

Some short rewiews of your transmission/builder would be prefered!

I read the first post you dip wad. I had a 2001 with a DTT transmission I ran for 430,000. friend of mine jeff Prince runs a Suncoast out of his 3500 single cab and running in the low 10's. there all good trannys. So make up your own mind. Just spend the money and dont worry about. Everbodies got opinions. there like armpits, some stink some dont

I race the DHRA quick diesel 12. 00 index class with my 04. I run an HTS full billet trans . I also tow my 1st gen truck to the track for back up with the race truck the truck and trailer weigh about 12000 lbs . The only problem I have had was I have twisted some billet shafts. If you want to get the power to the ground go HTS they are great people to work with and go the extra mile. You will be very satisfied.

i have to agree with the HTS crowd we have run a few different setups in one of our trucks and the only one to hold up to the abuse is the HTS. this thing shifts good enough to make me want an auto in my truck. but they are just to boring to drive everyday for me. but my opinon if i were to have an auto would be HTS all the way. just my. 002

And for the rest of you out there, I really thought I ´d been clear enough but if you still wonder... . dragracing and sledpulling is the goal, beefy enough for future hpupgrades, and I dont mind rough shifts.

What I asked for from the beginning was short reviews of what you with billet trannys had for experience with the transmission/builder.

Short post with only a vendors name can I read in all the other trannythreads. .

Am I realy this unclear about this??

in America, this is considered rude. please try not offend someone before you ask for advice.

I HIGHLY recommend Dave Goerend. I KNOW of at least 5 trucks with his trannies. Very few problems. Really the problems were due to non-billet parts, and electricl issues. The Electrical issues ANY transmission company can have.

I had a Suncoast. I know there are guys that use them and have no problems. I had 305hp and toasted a converter. Warranty... I didn't get any, dispite what their ads stated. PM me for the full story. I won't speak anymore of Suncoast here, I don't want it to turn into a bash fest.

Hmm Yes,after trying to point out what I was searching for about three times I got i little tired of people not reading the first post. And maybe I talked a little bit too rough to them, but not rude I think.

And it seems like you haven´t read the thread either, cause I have never in the thread asked for advice. I´ve asked for som real facts... thats a big difference I think.

Maybe I´m rude, maybe not...

Seems like some people not got offended, and read the instructions and rules, cause I have got a lot useful info from this thread after all.

I have been very pleased with my DTT. Very consistent, and durable transmission. At last years NHRA division 6 bracket finals 7 of the 8 passes would have been (hit the brakes a couple of times :) ), right on my dial in. I have almost 100K miles and over 1000 1/4 miles passes. Support, suggestions, and advice, have been right on the money.

Well Had BD trani - lost 2. 5 of them then gave up - 0% customer service

Then NADP blew the reverse band and drum 2nd day. Repaired and working good.

Do it again ... DTT or Suncoast...

BTW - NADP uses suncoast parts and converters

Full DTT for me, intermidiate is not billet but rest is, had since last august.

Trans has been flawless gets beat on everyday, customer service was great, they only thing thats not great about this trans is having to buy new tires soooo often, tradeoffs huh.

oh, around 700 at the rears.

good luck, enjoy.

Im an ATS guy. I have put my trans through H&ll and it wont give up. . Im around 850 give or take at the rear wheels. Ats customer service have been very well for me but raelly have not delt with then except for some few question. But that my too cents.

Very firm shifts, perfectly timed, able to withstand continued daily thrashing and pulling. Like no other that I've driven. Great customer care too. That describes my trans from East Coast Diesel Performance!

Sun Coast triple disk and full HTS and no problems here. Good people to work with.

I see in your sig you have a 91% converter... What stall do you get with it?

And for all of you. . Is there a direct relation between efficiency and stallspeed at the same hp?

I'm happy with my trans built by Ryan Hayes at cottman transmission of mesa AZ (main rebuild station) it is what they consider to be a hill killer. It consist of: Hughs converter billett triple lock. suncoast shafts: input-intermediate-output. transgo shift kit, hughs pan. Going strong with over 700hp for over a year! I do not like the behavior of the transgo shift kit.
