I helped change a friend of mines transfer pump on an 04. 5 that had 140000 miles, that got me thinking about my 04. I have 104000 with the original transfer pump and it got me to thinking about replacing mine with a FASS. The only mods I have are cold air intake, high ram, and turbo back exhaust and thought of putting a programmer on it later. I want a basic pump which one should I get and do you remove the original pump when you put a FASS on do you leave it? I know these are stupid questions but please help support a mechanically challenged person. Thaks!

You are going through the same decision that I just made for my 04. 5. It has 80,000 miles on it and I fear when the factory pump goes. I ordered a FASS from Genos Garage (they are currently on back order). I went with the 95 gph pump due to the fact that I do not have any heavy mods. If you go to the FASS website you can download the install manual. I haven't of course installed mine yet, but read the instructions front to back. The 95 pump seems to use the orignial factory pickup in the fuel tank, so you are not required to drill a new hole in the top of your tank as the 150 gph pump instructions state. You can go directly to the cp3 pump (injector pump) from the FASS if you buy the filter/water separator model (that's the one I went with). Others have gone through the factory filter and then to the cp3 pump, but not quite sure how that is set up, maybe someone else can answer. Electrical hookup uses original lift pump plug near the original filter housing. I figure for a few hundred dollars, well spent for peace of mind. Hope this helps.

Thanks MScheiper... I looked on the FASS page and read the manuals but haven't decided if I want the on with the filters or just the pump. It doesn't seem to look hard but I haven't touched it yet. And the way I read the pump Iit wasn't clear where to put the pump like it was with the one with the filters. Thanks again!

Yes, I thought the same thing when I was looking at the pump only option. Figured having a better filter and water separator was worth it along with a dependable pump.

Other then drilling the holes for the Fass mounting bracket I have very happy with my set up with the filters. It is nice to be able to put in a 2 micron filter.

Theres also the FASS DDRP pump, which gives 33% more volume of fuel, and theres a nice set up for mounting on frame, then you can use the big fuel line kit from vulcan or genos.
The DDRP is a fraction of the cost of the dual filter model, The DDRP FASS pump, is also a direct replacement, so you can also mount in the stock location.
