Another Turbo Actuator?

Looks like mine may be having issues. My truck has about 86,000 miles and gets driven hard, 100% of the time with 2500 pounds in the bed, and then often with a trailer as well. Got a U010C code today and truck will hardly build boost, so taking it in tomorrow to my local dealer for confirmation.

I have the Mopar MaxCare warranty out to 100k on my truck, and reading my paperwork it says that the turbo and all internals are covered, and the "turbo wastegate actuator" is covered too. Think I'll be covered if my turbo actuator is toast? Has anyone with MaxCare had to replace theirs before?

If MaxCare won't cover it, I'm considering doing the Geno's City Diesel replacement. I've read every thread I could find on them, but has anyone had any issues with them so far?

Before spending money on an aftermarket replacement, make sure you have software to calibrate if it needs. I initially had trouble getting my alfaobd to communicate with my bluetooth sender.

You may have already done this. Alphaobd is $50.

My Bluetooth sender is glitchy, but I can get it to work if I stick with it

Should be covered. But they can get real picky if you are doing your own maintenance. I only add and remove air from tires. They even add def.

And I was scoffed at for buying "Mopar Branded" DEF. But now that my max care is ending, I'm going to PEAK or CARCRAFT. Lol

Yea its tough to get it all the time, especially towing as it sucks it up big time.
I always feel better however when a receipt is in the glove box with mopar def.

They haven't been out long enough to establish reliability yet. Personally I'd have a hard time spending 3x cost on an unproven new product but everyone has their own comfort levels.

They haven't been out long enough to establish reliability yet. Personally I'd have a hard time spending 3x cost on an unproven new product but everyone has their own comfort levels.

I didn’t realize the regular actuators had come down in price so much. I’ll have to research that if it comes to it. I do have Alfa so I can calibrate it.

I never could get Alfa to work. We talked to the guy we bought it from and he walked us thru it. It would not communicate for us. He said sometimes with windows it works perfect and sometime not. I happen to be on the not end of it.

As an update, my local dealer said that the actuator is toast, and that maxcare will cover it. However, because the repair is over $3k (which seems absurd) they have to get some inspector guy from FCA to approve it or whatever nonsense, so he’s coming over to the dealer tomorrow to give them the go ahead.

Yeah. At least he was honest. My dealer fed me a bunch of lies when my $4600 ECM/PCM blew. The lies were about why it was taking so long. I, eventually, figured out they forensically tried to find out if I tuned it or changed programming to deny warranty. But since I didn't, they couldn't find any evidence. They sent the computer (ECM/PCM) out to be checked before they got me the new one.

It is definitely not as seamless as the Torq App. Mine is still glitchy and usually takes a few tries to get it to connect

I had trouble for months before I got it to connect. Then I finally figured it out.

It is definitely not as seamless as the Torq App. Mine is still glitchy and usually takes a few tries to get it to connect

What phone base do you use? I'm Android, Alpha connects seamless for me. The actuator calibration literally took seconds to perform.

I'm using android. Might be the MX+ bluetooth sender that is glitchy?

I first bought Alfa and an OBDLinkMX+. I wanted to figure it all out before I bought an oem replacement actuator. Never got that far. Alfa would lock up on a certain screen every time. The Alfa guy couldn’t figure out why so he refunded our money. That’s when I bought the City actuator.

Nope, you get an entire turbo charger, not just the Actuator.
