I am installing KC-DayLiters on my 3500 brushguard, I would like to like to beable for lights to come on & off with the high beams. I have a switch with on up & down off in the center. Up the lights are on, Down I would like the lights to be triggered with the high beam switch. But when I conect to the vt/wt wire they work once then they stay on until I turn them off in the center position & the vt/wt wire is still hot for a while say 1/2 hr. then it goes dead again. It seems like it is feeding back thru the wire from somewere. Does anybody have the answer? Oo.

The answer is: Switched Ground

Twelve volts is always present at your headlights - at the VT wire on the left side and the VT/RD wire on the right side. The path to ground from the VT (left) or VT/RD (right) wires is either:

> High-beam filament > RD/OR wire > multi-function switch > headlight switch > ground.

OR

> Low-beam filament > VT/WT wire > multi-function switch > headlight switch > ground.

The only job of the headlight switch is to provide a switched connection to ground. The multi-function lets you control which filament will be grounded through the headlight switch.

I didn't tell you how to make it work. I explained the existing switched ground wiring in the headlight circuit.

PM me with an email address and I'll reply with a sketch of the existing wiring attached. I'll also add a simple way to do what you want to the sketch. I'm assuming that the switch you plan to use is either a single pole double throw switch or a double pole double throw switch.
