I was supposed to be driving my new 03 quad cab dually HO by now, but thanks to some selfish jerk at another dealer I won't be. I have bought 4 vehicles from a somewhat local dealer and when I went to look for a dually this time, she didn't have any but assured me she could get me one. After a brief check on the dealer net she found one 2 hours away, made the arrangements for the exchange and already had my credit approved. Last night she was to go get it, but at 3:30 in the afternoon. I told her that she would be driving the truck in evening rush hour on the capital belt way and would get home too late to do the paperwork last night anyway. So I told her to wait till first thing in the morning to get it and I would be down around lunch to sign the papers and take delivery.

Well, wouldn't you know, she gets a call last night from a salesman (not the manager) of the dealer telling her that he had sold the truck. I was so ****** I got up this morning and drove the two hours to the dealer and found the truck still on the lot. I never told them who I was, as I inquired about the truck and they said it was still for sale. I left without saying anything and called my dealer. When she called back and talked to the manager, he pretty much said he couldn't let it go because of the holiday weekend. And he could make more money from selling it wholesale than doing an exchange. What a prick. Another greedy dealer.

I just need to vent, we are in the process of finding another one, but it was my second choice color. Still has eveything else I wanted. Especially the Cummins. :p

I agree with the above. I got my 03 3500 HO from Cook Motor cars. My sales woman was named Linda. No BS, just good deals below invoice. She never had to get the sales managers OK. Just a great place to get a 03 3500 dual rear wheel Cummins. They always have plenty in stock. Last time I was there they had about 10 (ten) 03 duallies. The sales managers name is Chuck. get to deal with also. He went out of his way to get my truck shipped from the port of Baltimore sooner then it was supposed to be shipped. They are two get people to deal with. I also got a FREE tank of diesel fuel (only needed 25 gals. ) for giving them the DC questionnaire instead of mailing it in. It is best to ask for a quote on line first. You will get a Internet customer ID number and a list of their below invoice prices. My truck listed for almost $46,000, and I got $9200 discount. Hope this helps.

Well, I ended up getting my truck from the original dealer I was dealing with. I was looking forward to the green color the wife and I had picked. There were 4 other dealers in a 300 mile radius that had them and they were equipped the way I wanted them, but they were up front on the phone and wouldn't let them go without her bringing another 6 speed dually to them in return for the one they were giving up. There were a bunch of automatic trucks, but I was bent on the 6 speed this time. I still have my soon to be DTT 47re in my 01. I must say I like the smooth ride. The 03 is an totally different animal, but it needs bombed. :D It wouldn't want to run against my 01 even though the transmission is slippin. :D I think I can take care of that though. Anyway here is a pic of the new addition.

imills, these local (hagerstown area) dealers are rediculous. they wouldnt even give me a price over the phone. I dont like to go to the dealer until we have reached an agreement on the price and equipment via phone or fax. They always want me to come in and talk, like i have time for that. I say just get me a price and i will be in to buy it. If you want my business that is how we play it. no one within 40 miles would deal with me this way. I found a truck i wanted in annapolis called the guy up and told him i would pay invoice price, he said fine. he faxed me the breakdown of equipment and i went down the next day and bought the truck. I dont understand why they will lose a sale because they want to "meet with me".

oh well, i would like to buy local but they have to play by my rules.

glad you got your truck, but it shouldnt be that complicated.

I'll be looking for that almond beauty, gary

and another thing... i have been driving fords for the last 7 years or so. When i was thinking about getting another dodge (last dodge was a 93 CTD) i went to the dealer to test drive one to compare ride and quality with the fords. I told the salesman i was looking for a laramie with leather seats. He said he didnt have any, i say that's alright i want to drive one anyway to check out the ride. He says when are you planning to buy, i say with in a month. So, he takes my license to copy it so i can drive the truck. I'm waiting by the truck for a test drive and he comes out and says the copy machine is broken so ill have to come back later if i want to drive the truck. I think he didnt want to waste his time with me since i didnt want to buy the truck that day. When i got home i called the sales manager to tell him the story and we was friggin hot. I explained to him i had three ford trucks and was thinking about switching to dodge and he should speak with this idiot salesman about his conduct. i didnt hold it against him since i have employees also i know how that can be.

this is the same dealer that i tried to deal with when i bought this last truck. I faxed them a copy of the print out of the truck i built on line so they could price it for me and order it. dont you know i never heard back from them and never got a price. luckily for me i found the exact truck i wanted minus the TT mirrors on its way to annapolis and I bought it.

moral of the story is there are plenty of dealers out there and someone will play ball your way.

Love my new truck, cant wait to buy my next one probably next year.
