anti-freeze

Last week I was looking at anti-freeze at a Kenworth dealer and noticed the Cat. extended life stuff. I read the lit. on the lable where it had some extra acids for extended life. My question, is this fluid compatable with our Cummins. $6. 67 pre-mixed.
What do ya think?

My local wholesale club has Rotella ELC (says it's low silicate) for $25. 00 a case. I'm considering picking some up. Last month it was $30. 00. If it goes to $20. 00 I'll definetly get some.
After all, it's pre mixed, so you're only really getting 3 gallons of antifreeze, and 3 of distilled water.

I have been running Cat ELC for about 90K miles. About a year ago, Cummins came out with a statement that all Long Live coolants (Texaco, Dexcool, etc) are all bad and can cause seal problems. This would include Cat ELC. I spoke with some Cummins folks at CMEP and they did not think any problems would develop with the B series. The problmes they seen were in older, and much larger engines.

Remember, Cummins has their own antifreeze (Fleetguard Complete).

I think if ELC is good for Caterpiller it can't be to bad for Cummins.

Price is very good to.
